Materials

• Fingering weight yarn in Green, Bright Blue, Orange, White, Yellow, Black, and Gray
• 1.5 mm crochet hook (or size needed to obtain tight stitches)
• Two 3mm safety eyes
• Polyester fiberfill stuffing
• Metal keychain ring with chain
• Black embroidery floss and needle
• Fabric glue and small white felt piece for license plate

Instructions

Head & Body: Using green yarn. Rnd 1: Start 6 sc in MR (6). Rnd 2: inc in each st around (12). Rnd 3: *sc, inc* around (18). Rnd 4: *2 sc, inc* around (24). Rnd 5: *3 sc, inc* around (30). Rnds 6-11: sc in each st around (30). Insert safety eyes between rounds 8 and 9, leaving about 4 sts in between. Rnd 12: *3 sc, dec* around (24). Rnd 13: *2 sc, dec* around (18). Stuff the head firmly. Rnd 14: *sc, dec* around (12). Rnd 15: dec around (6). Do not fasten off. Continue to body. Rnd 16: inc around (12). Rnd 17: *sc, inc* around (18). Rnds 18-22: sc in each st around (18). Rnd 23: *sc, dec* around (12). Stuff the body. Rnd 24: dec around (6). Fasten off, leaving a tail to sew closed.

Helmet: Using orange and white yarn. Start with orange. Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6). Rnd 2: inc in each st around (12). Rnd 3: *sc, inc* around (18). Rnd 4: *2 sc, inc* around (24). Begin incorporating a white stripe down the center by switching to white for 3 sts in the middle of each round, then back to orange. Rnd 5: *3 sc, inc* around (30). Rnds 6-9: sc in each st around (30) maintaining the white stripe. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing to the head.

Antennae (Make 2): Using green yarn. Rnd 1: 4 sc in MR (4). Rnds 2-5: sc around (4). Fasten off. Sew to the top of the head, positioning them to poke through the sides of the helmet.

Scooter Body: Using blue yarn. Ch 11: Rnd 1: sc in second ch from hook and next 8 ch, 3 sc in last ch, turn to work along opposite side: 8 sc, inc (22). Rnds 2-5: sc in each st around (22). Rnd 6: BLO, sc around (22). Stuff lightly to maintain a rectangular flat-bottomed shape. Rnd 7: dec around to close the bottom. For the front shield, attach blue yarn to the front of the scooter and ch 6, work back and forth in rows of 5 sc for 8 rows to create the vertical shield. Attach a small yellow circle to the top of the shield for the headlight.

Wheels (Make 2): Begin with gray. Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6). Switch to black. Rnd 2: inc in each st around (12). Rnd 3: sc around (12). Fasten off. Sew one wheel to the front bottom and one to the back bottom of the scooter.

Assembly: Position the alien onto the scooter seat. Sew the arms (simple chains of 6 in green) to the handlebars (a tiny black chain attached across the top of the scooter shield). Sew the legs (chains of 8 in green) wrapping around the sides of the scooter body. Write “AL1EN” on a tiny piece of white felt and glue it to the front shield below the headlight. Securely attach the keychain loop through the top of the helmet into the head.
