Materials

• Sport weight (Category 2) yarn in Chocolate Brown, Cream, Light Tan, Red, and White
• 2.25 mm crochet hook
• 6mm black safety eyes
• Black embroidery thread
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Keychain ring with chain
• Yarn needle, stitch markers, and scissors

Instructions

Mug (Cream Yarn):

• Rnd 1: Start with a magic ring and work 6 sc into it. (6)
• Rnd 2: Work [inc] in each stitch around. (12)
• Rnd 3: Work [sc, inc] around. (18)
• Rnd 4: Work [2 sc, inc] around. (24)
• Rnd 5: Work in BLO, sc around. (24)
• Rnd 6-14: Work sc in each stitch around. (24)
• Fasten off, weaving in the ends.

Mug Handle (Cream Yarn):

• Join cream yarn to the side of the mug around Round 12. Chain 10, then slip stitch back down the chain. Sew the lower end of the handle to the side of the mug around Round 6 to form the loop.

Bear Head (Chocolate Brown Yarn):

• Rnd 1: Start with a magic ring and work 6 sc into it. (6)
• Rnd 2: Work [inc] in each stitch around. (12)
• Rnd 3: Work [sc, inc] around. (18)
• Rnd 4: Work [2 sc, inc] around. (24)
• Rnd 5: Work [3 sc, inc] around. (30)
• Rnd 6-10: Work sc in each stitch around. (30)
• Insert 6mm safety eyes between Rounds 7 and 8, leaving about 5 stitches of space between them.
• Rnd 11: Work [3 sc, dec] around. (24)
• Rnd 12: Work [2 sc, dec] around. (18)
• Stuff the head firmly with fiberfill.
• Rnd 13: Work [sc, dec] around. (12)
• Rnd 14: Work [dec] in each stitch around. (6)
• Fasten off and sew the remaining hole closed.

Muzzle (Light Tan Yarn):

• Rnd 1: Start with a magic ring and work 6 sc into it. (6)
• Rnd 2: Work [inc, sc] 3 times. (9)
• Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. Embroider a small nose and vertical mouth line using black embroidery thread.

Ears (Make 2 – Chocolate Brown Yarn):

• Rnd 1: Start with a magic ring, work 6 sc into it, but do not join the ring into a full circle. Pull tight to create a semi-circle shape. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Scarf (Red & White Yarn):

• Using Red, chain 35. Row 1: Slip stitch in second chain from hook and next 4 stitches. Change to White, slip stitch next 5 stitches. Repeat alternating colors to the end of the chain. Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.

Assembly:

• Sew the muzzle to the front of the bear’s face centered between the safety eyes.
• Sew the ears securely to the top of the head on both sides.
• Place a small amount of stuffing in the bottom of the cream mug, insert the bear head into the mug opening, and sew the head to the inner rim of the mug.
• Wrap the striped scarf around the bear’s neck just above the mug rim and secure it with a tiny stitch.
• Attach the keychain ring to the top of the bear’s head.
