Materials

• Sport weight yarn in Cream, Light Brown, and Slate Blue
• Embroidery floss in Dark Blue, Dark Brown, and White
• 2.0 mm crochet hook
• Pair of 4mm black safety eyes
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Keychain ring with chain link
• Yarn needle and scissors

Instructions

Jar:

Using Cream yarn.

• Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
• Round 2: inc in each st around (12)
• Round 3: [sc, inc] x6 (18)
• Round 4: [2 sc, inc] x6 (24)
• Round 5: [3 sc, inc] x6 (30)
• Round 6: BLO sc in each st around (30)
• Rounds 7-8: sc in each st around (30)
• Round 9: Change to Slate Blue, sc in each st around (30)
• Rounds 10-15: Change to Cream, sc in each st around (30)
• Round 16: Change to Slate Blue, sc in each st around (30)
• Rounds 17-18: Change to Cream, sc in each st around (30)
• Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Embroider ‘COOKIE JAR’ in Dark Blue floss between the two blue lines, and add tiny cookie shapes on the sides.

Bear Head:

Using Light Brown yarn.

• Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
• Round 2: inc in each st around (12)
• Round 3: [sc, inc] x6 (18)
• Round 4: [2 sc, inc] x6 (24)
• Round 5: [3 sc, inc] x6 (30)
• Rounds 6-10: sc in each st around (30)
• Insert safety eyes between rounds 8 and 9, about 5 stitches apart.
• Round 11: [3 sc, dec] x6 (24)
• Round 12: [2 sc, dec] x6 (18)
• Stuff firmly with fiberfill.
• Round 13: [sc, dec] x6 (12)
• Round 14: dec x6 (6)
• Fasten off and weave in ends.

Muzzle:

Using Cream yarn.

• Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
• Round 2: inc in each st around (12)
• Fasten off. Embroider a nose and mouth with Dark Brown floss. Sew muzzle onto the head between the eyes.

Ears & Paws (Make 2 of each):

Using Light Brown yarn.

• Ears: 5 sc in MR. Do not join. Fasten off and sew to the top of the head.
• Paws: 6 sc in MR. Round 2: sc in each st around (6). Fasten off and sew onto the jar rim.

Lid (Hat):

Using Slate Blue yarn.

• Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
• Round 2: inc in each st around (12)
• Round 3: [sc, inc] x6 (18)
• Round 4: BLO [2 sc, inc] x6 (24)
• Round 5: [3 sc, inc] x6 (30)
• Round 6: [4 sc, inc] x6 (36)
• Rounds 7-8: sc in each st around (36)
• Round 9: FLO [5 sc, inc] x6 (42) to create the brim.
• Fasten off. Attach a small yarn loop to the top of the lid, then attach your keychain ring.

Assembly:

Stuff the jar lightly. Position the bear’s head inside the opening of the jar and sew them together. Position and sew the tiny paws to the front rim of the jar so the bear appears to be peeking out. Place the lid hat on top of the bear’s head at a slight angle and stitch it securely in place.
