Materials

• DK weight yarn in Yellow (for body and raincoat)
• DK weight yarn in Orange (for beak and feet)
• Sport weight yarn in Off-White (for hood drawstrings)
• 2.5 mm crochet hook
• 8 mm safety eyes
• 3 small white buttons (approx. 6mm)

Instructions

Head (Yellow Yarn):

• Round 1: Start with a MR, work 6 sc into the ring (6 sts)
• Round 2: 6 inc (12 sts)

• Round 5: [3 sc, inc] x 6 (30 sts)

• Rounds 8-15: 42 sc (42 sts)
• Note: Insert safety eyes between rounds 11 and 12, leaving about 7 stitches of space between them.
• Round 16: [5 sc, dec] x 6 (36 sts)
• Round 17: [4 sc, dec] x 6 (30 sts)
• Round 18: [3 sc, dec] x 6 (24 sts)

• Stuff the head firmly with fiberfill. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Beak (Orange Yarn):

Raincoat & Hood (Yellow Yarn):

• The coat is worked in rows, starting from the bottom hem up to the neck.
• Row 1: Ch 37. Start in the 2nd ch from the hook: 36 sc, ch 1, turn.
• Row 2: [5 sc, inc] x 6 (42 sts), ch 1, turn.
• Rows 3-10: 42 sc, ch 1, turn.

• Now, we transitions to build the hood directly from the neckline.

• Flatten the feet and sew the opening shut. Sew the feet onto the bottom of the body so the duckling can stand balanced.

Assembly & Details:

• Place the raincoat over the duckling’s body. Secure it with a few stitches to keep it in place.
• Sew three small white buttons down the front opening of the raincoat.
• To make the drawstring: Chain 40 with off-white yarn. Thread it through the neck stitches of the hood and tie knots at both ends.
• With black embroidery thread, sew two thin eyebrows angled slightly upward above each eye.
• Using pink blush, add soft rosy cheeks just below the eyes. Your adorable raincoat duckling is finished!
