Crochet Pattern: Adorable DIY Crochet Astronaut Bracelet Pattern: Space-Themed Wristband

Materials

• Lace weight cotton yarn or embroidery thread in Dark Blue, Medium Blue, Sky Blue, White, Yellow, and Orange
• 1.25 mm crochet hook
• Small wooden button (approx. 12mm)
• Polyester fiberfill stuffing
• One small gold bead for the star
• Tapestry needle and sewing thread

Abbreviations

• ch – chain
• sc – single crochet
• hdc – half double crochet
• inc – increase (2 single crochets in the same stitch)
• dec – decrease (single crochet 2 stitches together)
• sl st – slip stitch
• MR – Magic Ring
• st(s) – stitch(es)

Instructions

Step 1: The Striped Wristband

Using Dark Blue yarn, chain 50 (or enough to fit your wrist comfortably, plus 1 inch for overlap).

Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each chain across. Turn.

Row 2: Change to Medium Blue yarn. Ch 1, sc in each stitch across. Turn.

Row 3: Change to Sky Blue yarn. Ch 1, sc in each stitch across. Turn.

Row 4: Change to White yarn. Ch 1, sc in each stitch across. Turn.

Row 5: Change to Sky Blue yarn. Ch 1, sc in each stitch across. Turn.

Row 6: Change to Medium Blue yarn. Ch 1, sc in each stitch across. Turn.

Row 7: Change to Dark Blue yarn. Ch 1, sc in each stitch across. Do not turn. At the end of the row, chain 6 (or enough to loop around your button) and sl st to the edge of the band to create a button loop. Fasten off and weave in all ends. Sew the wooden button to the opposite end of the band.

Step 2: The Mini Astronaut Head & Helmet

Using White yarn:

Round 1: 6 sc in Magic Ring (6 sts).

Round 2: 6 inc (12 sts).

Round 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18 sts).

Rounds 4-7: Sc in each stitch around (18 sts).

Round 8: (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12 sts). Stuff firmly with fiberfill.

Round 9: 6 dec (6 sts). Fasten off, leaving a tail to sew to the body.

Step 3: The Visor

Using Dark Blue thread/yarn: Ch 4.

Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, 3 sc in the last ch. Working along the opposite side of the chain: hdc in the middle chain space, sc in the last. Join with a sl st to first sc. Change to Orange yarn and work slip stitches all the way around the outer edge of the visor. Fasten off. Embroider a tiny white diagonal line onto the dark blue section to represent the helmet glare. Sew the visor onto the front center of the head.

Step 4: The Astronaut Body & Limbs

Using White yarn for the Body:

Round 1: 6 sc in Magic Ring (6 sts).

Round 2: (1 sc, inc) x 3 (9 sts).

Rounds 3-6: Sc in each stitch around (9 sts). Stuff lightly.

Round 7: (1 sc, dec) x 3 (6 sts). Fasten off, leaving a tail.

For the Arms & Legs (Make 4):

Round 1: 4 sc in Magic Ring (4 sts).

Rounds 2-4: Sc in each stitch around (4 sts). Fasten off, leaving a long tail for assembly. Sew two legs to the bottom of the body and two arms to the sides.

Step 5: Moon and Star Appliques

Crescent Moon: Using Yellow yarn, ch 6. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next, sc in next, sl st in the last. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Orange Star: Using Orange yarn, in a Magic Ring: *ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st into magic ring; repeat from * 4 more times to create 5 points. Pull the ring tight and join with a slip stitch. Sew a tiny gold bead to the center of the star.

Step 6: Final Assembly

Position the tiny astronaut in the center of the bracelet band. Sew the body securely to the band, then sew the head above it. Embroider one red French knot and one blue French knot on the astronaut’s chest for control buttons. Sew the Yellow Moon to the left side of the astronaut and the Orange Star to the right side. Weave in all loose ends on the underside of the bracelet.
