Materials

• Worsted or bulky weight yarn in Orange, Cream, Rust Red, White, and Black

Instructions

Top Shell (Orange):

Round 1: In Orange, 6 sc in MR. (6 sts)

Round 2: inc in each st around. (12 sts)

Round 3: [sc, inc] x 6. (18 sts)

Round 4: [2 sc, inc] x 6. (24 sts)

Round 5: [3 sc, inc] x 6. (30 sts)

Continue increasing in this pattern (adding one more sc between increases each round) until you reach Round 25 (150 sts). Work 8 rounds even. Fasten off.

Bottom Shell (Cream):

Repeat the same pattern as the Top Shell using Cream yarn. Do not fasten off. Place both halves together, matching stitches, and join using Orange yarn with a round of sc around the edges, stuffing firmly before closing. Sl st to join, fasten off, and weave in ends.

Claws (Make 2):

Starting with Rust Red yarn: Round 1: 6 sc in MR. (6 sts)

Round 2: inc in each st around. (12 sts)

Round 3-6: sc around. (12 sts)

Switch to Orange yarn: Round 7: [sc, inc] around. (18 sts)

Round 8-15: sc around. (18 sts) Stuff firmly. Repeat for the secondary claw pinchers, join them together, and work 5 rounds of sc around both joined parts to form the main arm. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Legs (Make 6):

Using Rust Red yarn: Round 1: 6 sc in MR. (6 sts)

Round 2-15: Alternate 2 rows of Rust Red and 2 rows of Orange yarn, working sc around. Stuff lightly and sew openings closed. Fasten off.

Eyes & Spots:

Using White yarn: 6 sc in MR, inc in each st around (12 sts), [sc, inc] around (18 sts). Fasten off. Embroider a black pupil in the center. For spots, crochet small circles in Cream (6 sc in MR, join and fasten off) and sew them randomly onto the Orange Top Shell.

Assembly:

Sew the eyes to the front transition line of the body. Embroider a cheerful smile below the eyes using Rust Red yarn. Securely sew the claws to the front sides, and position the three legs on each side of the body, sewing them firmly into place. Weave in all loose ends.
