Materials

• DK weight yarn in brown (donut dough/legs/arms), light pink (icing), navy blue (hat), yellow (badge), black (visor/baton), grey (baton), cream (coffee cup), and dark brown (coffee)
• 3.0 mm crochet hook
• 8mm safety eyes
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Tapestry needle
• Embroidery floss in yellow, blue, and pink for sprinkles

• dec – decrease
• sl st – slip stitch

• BLO – back loops only

Instructions

Donut Body: Start with Pink yarn to create the icing side. Ch 30, join with a sl st to form a ring, taking care not to twist.

• Rnd 1: [sc 4, inc] around (36 sts)
• Rnd 2: [sc 5, inc] around (42 sts)
• Rnd 3: [sc 6, inc] around (48 sts)
• Rnd 4-7: sc around (48 sts)
• Switch to Brown yarn for the dough.
• Rnd 8-11: sc around (48 sts)
• Rnd 12: [sc 6, dec] around (42 sts)
• Rnd 13: [sc 5, dec] around (36 sts)
• Rnd 14: [sc 4, dec] around (30 sts)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Insert 8mm safety eyes on the pink side between Rnds 3 and 4, about 5 sts apart. Embroider a small smile between them. Add colorful straight stitches for sprinkles. Stuff the tube firmly with fiberfill and sew the first and last rounds together to form a donut torus.

Police Hat: Start with Navy Blue yarn.

• Rnd 1: 6 sc in Magic Ring (6 sts)
• Rnd 2: inc in each st around (12 sts)
• Rnd 3: [sc 1, inc] around (18 sts)
• Rnd 4: [sc 2, inc] around (24 sts)
• Rnd 5: BLO sc around (24 sts)
• Rnd 6-7: sc around (24 sts)
• Visor: Switch to Black yarn. Ch 1, turn. FLO sc 8 across the front of the hat. Fasten off and weave in ends. Sew a small yellow embroidered badge to the front of the hat.

Arms & Legs (Make 2 of each in Brown yarn):

• Arms: 6 sc in Magic Ring. Rnd 2-8: sc around (6 sts). Fasten off, leave tail to sew.
• Legs: 6 sc in Magic Ring. Rnd 2: [sc 1, inc] around (9 sts). Rnd 3-5: sc around (9 sts). Fasten off and stuff lightly.

Mini Coffee Cup: Start with Cream yarn.

• Rnd 1: 6 sc in Magic Ring.
• Rnd 2: inc around (12 sts).
• Rnd 3: BLO sc around (12 sts).
• Rnd 4-6: sc around (12 sts). Switch to Dark Brown on the last stitch of Rnd 6.
• Rnd 7: BLO [sc 1, dec] around (8 sts). Stuff lightly.
• Rnd 8: dec around. Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Cream yarn to the side of the cup and ch 5, slip stitch back to the side of the cup to form a handle.

Assembly: Sew the police hat securely to the top of the donut. Sew the arms to the sides and the legs to the bottom so the donut sits upright. Embroider a small yellow badge shield on the right side of the donut’s icing. Position and sew the coffee cup next to your finished police donut!
