Bobble (3-dc Bobble): Yarn over, insert hook into st, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook). Yarn over, insert hook into same st, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops (3 loops on hook). Yarn over, insert hook into same st, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops (4 loops on hook). Yarn over, pull through all 4 loops on hook.

Instructions

Gauge: 14 hdc x 10 rows = 4×4 inches (10×10 cm). Gauge is important for size, adjust hook size if needed.

Notes: This pattern is worked in rows to create two identical panels, which are then seamed together. Color changes are made at the end of the row before switching to the new color.

Book Sleeve Panels (Make 2):

With Color A, ch 26.
Row 1 (Color A): Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (25 hdc) Turn.
Rows 2-5 (Color A): Ch 1, hdc in each st across. Turn. At the end of Row 5, change to Color C.
Row 6 (Color C – Bobble Row): Ch 1, sc in first st, *Bobble in next st, sc in next st*. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last st. Turn. (12 Bobbles, 13 sc) Change to Color B.
Rows 7-9 (Color B): Ch 1, hdc in each st across. Turn. At the end of Row 9, change to Color C.

Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in last ch (this forms the point of the leaf). Working down the other side of the starting chain: dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch. Join with sl st to first sc. (2 sc, 2 hdc, 6 dc, 1 ch-2 space).
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, hdc in next st, dc in next st, Bobble in next st, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 space. Bobble in next st, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in last st. Join with sl st to first sc. FO, leaving a long tail for attaching to the sleeve.

Assembly:

Place the two panels together, right sides facing each other. Using the long tail from one panel and your yarn needle (or a separate piece of Color A yarn), seam along three sides (bottom and both long sides) using a whip stitch or mattress stitch. Leave the top side open. Weave in ends.
Turn the sleeve right side out. Position the three leaf appliqués on one side of the sleeve, arranging them as desired (refer to image for placement example). Using the tails from the leaves and your yarn needle, carefully sew them securely onto the sleeve.
Weave in any remaining loose ends. Your Autumn Embrace Book Sleeve is complete!
