Materials

• Worsted weight cotton yarn (or cotton blend) in:
• Main Color (MC): Sage Green (approx. 400 yards)
• Contrast Color 1 (CC1): Cream/Off-white (approx. 100 yards)

• Crochet Hook: 4.0mm (G/6)

Instructions

Gauge: 4” x 4” = 16 sc x 18 rows (adjust hook size if necessary to meet gauge)

Bag Panels (Make 2 – Front and Back)

• Using MC, ch 47.
• Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (46 sc)
• Rows 2-48: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across. (46 sc)
• Edging Round 1 (MC): Do not FO. Ch 1, turn. Sc evenly around the entire perimeter of the panel, working (sc, ch 1, sc) in each corner st. Sl st to first sc to join.
• Edging Round 2: Join CC1 to any sc. *Work [sc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st] (creating a small block of stitches). Sl st into the next st.* Repeat from * around, alternating CC1 and CC2 for each [sc, hdc, sc] block. Ensure blocks fall evenly around corners. Sl st to first sc to join.
• FO. Weave in ends.

Side & Bottom Gusset (Make 1)

• Using MC, ch 10.
• Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (9 sc)
• Rows 2-146: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across. (9 sc)
• FO. Weave in ends.

Strap (Make 1)

• Using MC, ch 8.
• Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (7 sc)
• Rows 2-200: Ch 1, turn. Sc in BLO in each st across. (7 sc)
• FO. Weave in ends.

Flat Flowers (Make 5-7, varying colors)

Center (example using CC2)

• Using CC2, make a MR.
• Round 1: Ch 1, 6 sc into MR. Sl st to first sc to join. (6 sc)

Petals (example using CC1)

• Switch to CC1.
• Round 2: *Ch 2, (dc, tr, dc) into the same st where you joined, ch 2, sl st into the same sc. Sl st into the next sc.* Repeat from * 6 times. Sl st to first ch-2 space to join. (6 petals)
• FO. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Rolled Rosettes (Make 3-4, varying colors)

(Example using CC2)

• Using CC2, ch 40.
• Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook. *2 dc in next ch, dc in next ch* repeat from * across. (Approximately 57-60 dc)
• Carefully roll the strip tightly from one end, gathering the foundation chain edge, and allowing the ruffled edge to fan out. Secure the base by sewing through all layers with a yarn needle and matching thread/yarn.
• FO. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Leaves (Make 8-10, using MC)

• Using MC, ch 7.
• Row 1: Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch. Ch 1, turn to work along the other side of the chain.
• Row 2: Sc in first st, hdc in next st, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st, sl st in last st.
• FO. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

1. Lay one Bag Panel flat. Arrange the Flat Flowers, Rolled Rosettes, and Leaves on the panel as desired, referring to the image for placement. Pin them in place.
2. Using a yarn needle, carefully sew all floral appliqués securely onto the Bag Panels.
3. Repeat for the second Bag Panel.
4. With the right sides of the Bag Panels facing out, align the Gusset strip around the perimeter of one Bag Panel (sides and bottom). Using a whip stitch or mattress stitch, sew the Gusset to the first Bag Panel.
5. Repeat to sew the other Bag Panel to the remaining side of the Gusset.
6. Attach the Strap: Flatten the top opening of the bag. Position each end of the strap to the inside top corners of the bag, about 1 inch in from the edge. Securely sew the strap ends to the bag, reinforcing the stitches for durability.
7. Weave in any remaining loose ends.
