Materials

• Worsted weight yarn in Dark Green (approx. 200 yards)
• Worsted weight yarn in Dusty Rose/Mauve (approx. 50 yards)

Instructions

Bag Panels (Make 2 – Dark Green Yarn)

• Row 1: Ch 21. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 18 ch, 3 sc in last ch. Working along the other side of the chain, sc in next 19 ch. (42 sc)
• Round 2: Ch 1, turn. 2 sc in first st, sc in next 18 sts, 2 sc in next 3 sts, sc in next 18 sts, 2 sc in last st. Join with sl st to first sc. (48 sc)
• Round 3: Ch 1, turn. (2 sc in first st, sc in next st) repeat 3 times, sc in next 18 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) repeat 3 times, sc in next 18 sts. Join with sl st. (54 sc)
• Continue working in rounds, increasing evenly on the curved ends to maintain a flat, half-oval shape until the panel measures approximately 8 inches wide and 6.5 inches tall. Finish with an even round of sc. FO.

Flower Center (Brown Yarn)

• Round 1: In a MR, ch 1, 10 sc. Join with sl st to first sc. (10 sc)
• Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around. Join with sl st. (20 sc)
• FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.

First Petal Layer (Dusty Rose Yarn)

• Attach Dusty Rose yarn to any st of the Flower Center.

Second Petal Layer (Dusty Rose Yarn)

• Attach Dusty Rose yarn to a sl st between two petals of the First Layer.

Third Petal Layer (Dusty Rose Yarn)

• Attach Dusty Rose yarn to a sl st between two petals of the Second Layer.

Leaves (Make 6-8 – Olive Green Yarn)

• Row 1: Ch 6. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch. Ch 1, turn.
• Row 2: Sl st in first sc, sc in next hdc, hdc in next dc, sc in next hdc, sl st in last sc. FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

• 1. Appliqué: Carefully position the layered flower and leaves on one of the green bag panels. Sew them securely in place using your yarn needle.
• 2. Join Bag Panels: Place the two bag panels together, matching up the edges. Using Dark Green yarn, sc around the curved edges to join them, working through both loops of both panels. Leave the top straight edge open.
• 3. Top Edging: Along the top opening, ch 1, sc evenly across the front panel, and then sc evenly across the back panel. Work 2-3 rounds of sc for a neat finish. Join with sl st. FO.

Strap (Dark Green Yarn)

• Ch 150-180 (or desired length for a crossbody strap).
• Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across.
• Alternatively, work 2-3 rows of sc along the length of the chain for a sturdier strap.
• Sew the ends of the strap securely to the top corners of the bag.

Tassels (Optional – Dusty Rose, Brown, Olive Green Yarn)

• Cut several strands (approx. 15-20) of each color yarn, about 8-10 inches long.
• Fold the strands in half, thread a separate piece of yarn through the loop, and tie securely to form the top of the tassel.
• Wrap another piece of yarn tightly around the tassel about 1 inch from the top to create the tassel head. Trim the ends evenly.
• Make two tassels and attach them to the base of the strap or the side of the bag.

Finishing

• Weave in all remaining loose ends.
• If desired, attach a magnetic snap or button to the inside of the bag opening for closure.
