Materials

• Worsted weight (Aran/10-ply) cotton yarn in: Light Mint Green (Main Bag), Natural/Beige (Edging & Handles), Mustard Yellow (Large Daisy Center), Cream/Off-white (Large Daisy Petals), Pale Pink (Small Flowers), Light Blue (Small Flowers), Lavender (Small Flowers), Olive Green (Leaves)
• 4.0mm (G/6) crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

Instructions

BAG PANELS (Make 2 – Light Mint Green)

• Row 1: Ch 41. Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (40 hdc)
• Rows 2-45: Ch 1, turn. Hdc in each hdc across. (40 hdc)
• Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing on one panel.

SIDE & BOTTOM STRIP (Make 1 – Light Mint Green)

• Row 1: Ch 11. Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (10 hdc)
• Rows 2-130: Ch 1, turn. Hdc in each hdc across. (10 hdc)
• Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. (Adjust length as needed to fit around the two sides and bottom of your main panels)

LARGE DAISY (Make 1)

• Center (Mustard Yellow):
  • Round 1: In MR, ch 1, 6 sc. Sl st to first sc. (6 sc)
  • Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around. Sl st to first sc. (12 sc)
  • Round 3: Ch 2 (counts as 1 dc), dc in same st. 2 dc in each sc around. Sl st to top of beg ch-2. (24 dc) Fasten off.
• Petals (Cream/Off-white):
  • Attach yarn to any dc from Round 3 of the center.
  • *Ch 2, 4 dc in the same dc, ch 2, sl st into the next dc. Repeat from * 12 times around. (12 petals)
  • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

SMALL FLOWERS (Make approx. 12-15 in assorted Pale Pink, Light Blue, Lavender, Mint Green)

• In MR, ch 2. (3 dc, ch 2, sl st) 5 times into the ring to create 5 petals.
• Pull tail to close ring. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

LEAVES (Make approx. 10-12 in Olive Green)

• Ch 8. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next 3 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch.
• Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

ASSEMBLY

• Attach Flowers & Leaves: Arrange the Large Daisy, Small Flowers, and Leaves onto one of the main bag panels as desired, referring to the image. Using your yarn needle, carefully sew each applique securely onto the panel.
• Join Panels: Using the long tail from one main panel and the side/bottom strip, whip stitch or sc the strip around the sides and bottom of one main panel. Repeat with the second main panel, attaching it to the other side of the strip. Turn right side out.
• Top Edging (Natural/Beige): Attach Natural/Beige yarn to the top edge of the bag. Ch 1, sc evenly around the entire top opening. Sl st to first sc. Repeat for 1-2 more rounds of sc if desired for a sturdier edge. Fasten off.
• Handles (Natural/Beige – Make 2): Cut 9 strands of Natural/Beige yarn, each about 3 times the desired handle length (e.g., 60 inches for a 20-inch handle). Gather 3 strands together and make a braid. Repeat two more times to get 3 braids. Braid these 3 braids together to create a thick, sturdy handle. Alternatively, crochet a long chain (approx. 100-120 ch) and then sc back along it, repeating to create a thick strap, then braid two such straps together. For the simplest braided look shown: Cut 9 strands of yarn, each approx. 50 inches long. Group into three sets of 3 strands. Braid these three sets together until desired handle length is reached. Secure ends with a knot.
• Attach Handles: Sew the ends of the braided handles securely to the inside top corners of the bag.
