Instructions
This pattern creates two band pieces that attach to a watch face. Adjust length to fit your wrist.
Watch Band Base (Make 2)
- Using Green thread:
- Row 1: Ch 10 (or desired width for your watch lugs + 2 for turning ch). Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (9 sc)
- Row 2-X: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across. Repeat until the band reaches your desired length from the watch lug to the wrist clasp. The base shown in the image is wide and mostly covered by flowers, so you’ll want it to be wide enough to support the embellishments. For the narrower part attaching to the watch, reduce stitches. For example, work 5 rows of 9sc, then decrease to 4-5 sc for 2-3 rows to fit snugly in the watch lug. You will need to make another piece for the other side of the watch.
- F.O., leaving a long tail for sewing.
Small Rose (Make 4-6, in Pink and Yellow)
- Using Pink or Yellow thread:
- Row 1: Ch 21. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (20 sc)
- Row 2: Ch 1, turn. *Sc in next st, 2 dc in next st, 2 tr in next st, 2 dc in next st, sc in next st* repeat from * to * across. You will have a wavy strip.
- F.O., leaving a long tail. Roll the strip tightly from one end, keeping the wavy edge at the top, to form a rose shape. Secure by stitching through the bottom with the tail.
Small Daisy (Make 4-6, White with Yellow center)
- Center (Yellow): MR, ch 1, 6 sc into MR. Join with sl st to first sc. F.O.
- Petals (White): Join white thread into any sc of the yellow center. *Ch 3, dc into same sc, ch 3, sl st into same sc. Sl st into next sc of the yellow center* Repeat from * to * 5 more times. You will have 6 petals.
- F.O., leaving a tail for sewing.
Forget-Me-Not Style Flowers (Make 6-8, in Light Blue and Dark Blue)
- Using Light Blue or Dark Blue thread:
- MR, ch 1. (Sc, ch 2) 5 times into MR. Sl st to first sc to join. Pull MR tight to close. This creates 5 tiny petals.
- F.O., leaving a tail for sewing. (Optional: Stitch a tiny yellow bead or French knot in the center for a detailed look).
Lavender Sprig (Make 3-4, in Lavender/Purple)
- Using Lavender/Purple thread:
- Ch 8. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook. *Ch 2, sl st into next ch* repeat 3 more times. Ch 1, sl st into last ch.
- F.O., leaving a tail for sewing.
Small Leaves (Make 10-15, in Green)
- Using Green thread:
- Ch 5. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in last ch. Turn. Work down the other side of the chain: dc in first ch, hdc in next, sc in next, sl st in last ch.
- F.O., leaving a tail for sewing.
Assembly
- Attach the plain ends of your two crochet base bands to the lugs of your watch face using a tapestry needle and sewing thread. Secure firmly.
- Begin arranging and sewing the individual crocheted flowers and leaves onto the green base bands. Start from the watch face outwards, covering the base band completely as shown in the image.
- Use your sewing needle and matching thread to meticulously sew each floral element in place. Overlap flowers and leaves to create a full, organic look. Ensure all tails are woven in neatly.
- Once all embellishments are securely attached, you will need to add a clasp mechanism. You can sew on a buckle from an old watch band or sew a small loop and button closure to the ends of your crochet band. Ensure the length is correct for your wrist before permanently attaching the clasp.
- Weave in any remaining loose ends.
