Materials

• Sport weight cotton yarn in Yellow, Black, and White
• 2.0 mm (US B/1) crochet hook
• Two 4mm black safety eyes or small black beads
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Metal ribbon end clamps (approx. 10mm wide)
• Lobster clasp and jump rings
• Jewelry pliers, yarn needle, and embroidery thread

• sc – single crochet
• inc – increase (2 sc in one stitch)
• dec – decrease (sc 2 together)
• sl st – slip stitch
• st(s) – stitch(es)
• MR – magic ring

Instructions

Bee Body:

Using Yellow yarn:

• Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
• Rnd 2: [inc] x 6 (12)
• Rnd 3: [sc, inc] x 6 (18)
• Change to Black yarn.
• Rnd 4: sc in each st around (18)
• Change to Yellow yarn.
• Rnd 5: sc in each st around (18)
• Change to Black yarn.
• Rnd 6: sc in each st around (18)
• Insert 4mm safety eyes between Rnd 2 and Rnd 3, leaving 4 stitches of space between them. Stuff the head/body firmly with fiberfill.
• Change to Yellow yarn.
• Rnd 7: [sc, dec] x 6 (12)
• Rnd 8: [dec] x 6 (6)

Fasten off, weave the tail through the front loops of the last 6 stitches, pull tight to close, and hide the yarn end inside the body.

Wings (Make 2):

Using White yarn:

• In a Magic Ring, ch 2, 4 dc, ch 2, sl st into the ring. Pull the ring tight.
• Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Antennae:

• Attach Black yarn to the top of the bee’s head, just behind the eyes. Chain 3, sl st into the second chain from the hook and the next chain. Fasten off and knot securely. Repeat for the second antenna.

Bracelet Band:

The band is worked flat. Adjust the initial chain length to fit your wrist size (approx. 5.5 to 6 inches, allowing room for metal clasps).

• Row 1: Using Yellow yarn, ch 46. sc in the second ch from the hook and in each ch across, turn (45 sc)
• Row 2: Change to Black yarn. ch 1, [sc in next 2 sts, change to White yarn and sc in next st, change back to Black yarn] repeat across to the end, turn (45)
• Row 3: Change to Yellow yarn. ch 1, sc in each st across (45)
• Fasten off and weave in all yarn tails securely.

Assembly:

• Sew the two white wings securely to the top of the bee’s back.
• Position the completed bee in the center of the bracelet band and sew it firmly in place using yellow yarn.
• Attach the metal ribbon end clamps to both short ends of the crochet band using pliers.
• Connect the jump rings and lobster clasp to the clamps to complete your wearable bee bracelet.
