Materials

• DK weight yarn in Brown (approx. 50g)
• DK weight yarn in Light Beige (approx. 20g)
• 2.5mm or 3.0mm crochet hook (or size suitable for your yarn)
• 6mm black safety eyes
• Polyester fiberfill for stuffing
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch marker
• Scissors

Instructions

This pattern is worked in continuous rounds unless otherwise stated. Use a stitch marker to keep track of the first stitch of each round.

Head (Brown yarn)

• Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6 sts)
• Rnd 2: Inc in each st around (12 sts)
• Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18 sts)
• Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (24 sts)
• Rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30 sts)
• Rnd 6-10: Sc in each st around (30 sts) (5 rounds)
• Rnd 11: (3 sc, dec) x 6 (24 sts)
• Rnd 12: (2 sc, dec) x 6 (18 sts)
• Insert 6mm safety eyes between Rnd 9 and Rnd 10, about 5-6 stitches apart.
• Rnd 13: (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12 sts)
• Start stuffing the head firmly.
• Rnd 14: Dec x 6 (6 sts)
• FO, weave tail through front loops of remaining 6 stitches and pull tight to close. Hide tail.

Muzzle (Light Beige yarn)

Work in oval rounds.

• Ch 5.
• Rnd 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc, 3 sc in last ch. Working down the other side of the chain: 3 sc, 2 sc in last st. (10 sts)
• Rnd 2: Inc, 2 sc, inc x 3, 2 sc, inc x 2. (16 sts)

Ears (Make 2)

Inner Ear (Light Beige yarn)

• Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6 sts)
• FO.

Outer Ear (Brown yarn)

• Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6 sts)
• Rnd 2: Inc in each st around (12 sts)
• Rnd 3: Sc in each st around (12 sts)
• Place the beige inner ear onto the brown outer ear. Fold the outer ear in half and sc across the opening through both layers to close. FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Legs (Make 2)

• Rnd 3-6: Sc in each st around (12 sts) (4 rounds)
• Rnd 7: (2 sc, dec) x 3 (9 sts)

• Change to Light Beige yarn.
• Rnd 12-13: Sc in each st around (9 sts) (2 rounds)
• Stuff lightly. Flatten the opening and sc across 4-5 stitches to close. FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Tail (Brown yarn)

• Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6 sts)
• Rnd 2-15: Sc in each st around (6 sts) (14 rounds)
• Stuff lightly. FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

• Sew the body to the head. Ensure it’s centered.
• Sew the muzzle to the front of the head, centered below the eyes.
• Embroider a small smile onto the muzzle with black embroidery floss or a thin strand of black yarn.
• Sew the ears to the sides of the head, positioning them slightly above the eyes, around Rnd 3-5 of the head.
• Sew the arms to the sides of the body, just below the neck.
• Sew the legs to the bottom of the body.
• Sew the tail to the back of the body, centered.
• Optional Hair Texture: For the textured hair on top of the head, you can either surface crochet small loops with brown yarn or cut several short strands of brown yarn (approx. 1-1.5 inches), use a latch hook or tapestry needle to attach them to the top of the head, and then trim and fluff to create a curly effect.
