Crochet Pattern: Charming Crochet Birdhouse Keychain Pattern: Mini Amigurumi Tutorial

Materials

• Sport weight cotton yarn (or embroidery floss) in Cream, Light Blue, White, Green, Red, Yellow, Black, and Orange
• 2.0 mm crochet hook
• Small wooden bead (approx. 5-6mm)
• Polyester fiberfill stuffing
• Yarn needle and embroidery needle
• Keychain ring and clasp

Abbreviations

• ch – chain
• sc – single crochet
• inc – increase (2 single crochet in one stitch)
• dec – decrease (single crochet 2 stitches together)
• sl st – slip stitch
• st(s) – stitch(es)
• MR – Magic Ring

Instructions

Front Panel:

• Row 1 (Red): Chain 11. Starting in the second chain from hook, sc in each chain across. Turn. (10 sts)
• Row 2 (Red): Ch 1, sc in each stitch across. Turn. (10 sts)
• Row 3-4 (Green): Switch to Green yarn. Ch 1, sc in each stitch across. Turn. (10 sts)
• Row 5 (White): Switch to White yarn. Ch 1, sc in each stitch across. Turn. (10 sts)
• Row 6 (Light Blue): Switch to Light Blue yarn. Ch 1, sc in first 3 sts, ch 4, skip 4 sts, sc in last 3 sts. Turn.
• Row 7 (Light Blue): Ch 1, sc in first 3 sts, work 4 sc into the ch-4 space, sc in last 3 sts. Turn. (10 sts)
• Row 8 (Light Blue): Ch 1, sc in each stitch across. Turn. (10 sts)
• Row 9 (Light Blue): Ch 1, dec, sc in next 6 sts, dec. Turn. (8 sts)
• Row 10 (Light Blue): Ch 1, dec, sc in next 4 sts, dec. Turn. (6 sts)
• Row 11 (Light Blue): Ch 1, dec, sc in next 2 sts, dec. Turn. (4 sts)
• Row 12 (Light Blue): Ch 1, dec twice. Fasten off. (2 sts)

Yellow Window Border:

• Join Yellow yarn to any stitch around the circular window opening on the Front Panel.
• Work 12 sc evenly around the opening. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Back Panel:

• Repeat Rows 1 to 12 of the Front Panel using the exact same color transitions, but omit the window opening (simply work sc across for Rows 6 and 7). Fasten off.

Little Bird & Background:

• Black Background: With Black yarn, make a MR. Work 6 sc into the ring, sl st to join. Round 2: inc in each st around (12 sts). Fasten off.
• Yellow Bird: With Yellow yarn, make a MR. Work 5 sc into the ring, sl st to join. Fasten off. Embroider a tiny triangle beak with Orange yarn in the center.
• Sew the yellow bird onto the black background circle, then sew this entire backing piece behind the window of the Front Panel so the bird peeks out.

Assembly & Roof:

• Join Panels: Place the Front and Back panels together. Using Light Blue, Green, and Red yarn to match the color sections, sew or slip stitch the sides and bottom edges together. Lightly stuff with fiberfill before closing the top.
• Roof (Cream): Ch 26. Row 1-3: sc in each stitch across. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Fold the roof over the pointed top of the birdhouse and sew it in place along the edges.
• Top Loop: Attach Cream yarn to the peak of the roof. Ch 10, sl st back into the same space to create a loop. Securely fasten off.
• Perch & Keychain: Sew the small wooden bead directly below the yellow window to act as the perch. Finally, attach your keychain ring and clasp to the cream loop at the top.
