Crochet Pattern: Charming Crochet Panda Slippers

Materials

• Super Bulky (Weight 6) Chenille/Velvet Yarn, White (approx. 200g per pair)
• Super Bulky (Weight 6) Chenille/Velvet Yarn, Black (approx. 100g per pair)
• Crochet Hook 8.0mm (L) or size needed to obtain gauge
• Yarn Needle
• Stitch Markers
• Small amount of White embroidery floss for eye detail

Instructions

General Notes:

• Use stitch markers to mark the beginning or end of rounds/rows.
• Work in continuous rounds for the toe and top of the foot unless otherwise specified.
• Slippers are designed to fit a standard adult size (US Women’s 7-9). Adjust hook size or add/subtract rows/rounds for different sizes.

Slipper Body (Make 2):

Using White super bulky yarn and 8.0mm hook.

• Toe & Top of Foot:
• Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring. (6 sts)
• Rnd 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
• Rnd 3: [Sc in next st, inc] 6 times. (18 sts)
• Rnd 4: [Sc in next 2 sts, inc] 6 times. (24 sts)
• Rnd 5: [Sc in next 3 sts, inc] 6 times. (30 sts)
• Rnd 6: [Sc in next 4 sts, inc] 6 times. (36 sts)
• Rnd 7: [Sc in next 5 sts, inc] 6 times. (42 sts)
• Rnd 8-12: Sc in each st around. (42 sts)
• Split for Sides and Heel:
• Rnd 13: Sc in first 24 sts. Turn. (Leave remaining 18 sts unworked; these form the front opening of the slipper).
• Rows 14-16 (Side Walls – White): Ch 1, turn, sc in each of the 24 sts. (24 sts)
• Change to Black Yarn.
• Rows 17-19 (Heel Band – Black): Ch 1, turn, sc in each of the 24 sts. (24 sts)
• Fasten off Black yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Fold the slipper with wrong sides together, aligning the stitches of Row 19. Sew the 24 stitches together to create the back heel seam. Weave in ends.

Black Cuff:

• Attach Black super bulky yarn to the top center of the foot opening (where Rnd 13 split).
• Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc evenly around the entire foot opening (working along the 18 unworked sts from Rnd 13, and up the sides of the white and black rows). Aim for approximately 52-56 sc (adjust as needed for a neat finish). Join with sl st to first sc.
• Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with sl st. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Panda Ears (Make 4 – 2 for each slipper):

Using Black super bulky yarn.

• Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring. (6 sts)
• Rnd 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
• Rnd 3: [Sc in next st, inc] 6 times. (18 sts)
• Sl st to join. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Flatten the circle into a semi-circle.

Panda Eye Patches (Make 4 – 2 for each slipper):

Using Black super bulky yarn.

• Ch 5.
• Rnd 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, 3 sc in last ch. Working on other side of chain: sc in next 2 ch, 2 sc in last ch. (10 sts)
• Rnd 2: Inc, sc in next 2 sts, [inc] 3 times, sc in next 2 sts, [inc] 2 times. Sl st to join. (16 sts)
• Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly & Facial Features:

• Ears: Pin and sew two black ears to the top front of each slipper, slightly to the sides, referring to the image for placement.
• Eye Patches: Pin and sew two black eye patches to the front of each slipper, below the ears, making sure they are slightly angled and spaced like a panda’s eyes.
• Eyes: Using White embroidery floss and a yarn needle, embroider a small vertical dash or dot onto the top inner corner of each black eye patch to create the highlights/eyes.
• Nose: Using Black super bulky yarn and a yarn needle, embroider a small, inverted triangle or oval shape just below the eye patches for the nose.
• Mouth: From the bottom center of the nose, embroider a short vertical line downwards, then two small curved lines extending outwards from the bottom of the vertical line to form a “Y” or upside-down “T” shape for the mouth.
• Weave in all remaining loose ends securely.
