Materials

• Worsted weight yarn in Rust Brown (for body, tail, arms, legs, ears)
• Worsted weight yarn in Cream (for belly, muzzle, inner ears, acorn base)
• Worsted weight yarn in Dark Brown (for acorn cap)
• 2.5mm or 3.0mm crochet hook (or size suitable for yarn to achieve tight stitches)
• 6mm safety eyes
• Black embroidery floss (for nose and mouth)
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch markers
• Fiberfill stuffing

Instructions

Head and Body (Rust Brown & Cream)

Start with Cream yarn.

• Switch to Rust Brown yarn.

• FO, leaving a long tail to close.

Acorn Cap (Dark Brown)

• R5: sc in each st around (18)
• Sl st, FO, leaving a long tail.

Assembly

• Head: Embroider the nose and mouth onto the muzzle using black embroidery floss.
• Body: Sew the head to the body.
• Ears: Pinch the bottom of each ear slightly and sew them to the top sides of the head, between R10 and R11.
• Arms: Sew the arms to the sides of the body, just below the neck.
• Legs: Sew the legs to the bottom of the body.
• Tail: Sew the tail to the back of the body, curving it upwards and to the side as seen in the image. Secure firmly.
• Acorn: Sew the dark brown cap onto the cream acorn body. Stitch a small stem on top of the cap if desired. Attach the acorn to one of the squirrel’s hands with a few stitches, or leave it separate.
