Materials

• DMC Pearl Cotton Thread size 8 or similar fine embroidery floss in: Grey-Brown, Golden Yellow, Cream, Off-White, Dark Brown, Black

Instructions

Important Note: This pattern uses very fine thread and a small hook to achieve a miniature size. Adjust hook and yarn size as needed, but this will change the final dimensions.

Bear Head (Make 1 for each bear in specified color)

• R1: 6 sc in MR (6 sts)
• R2: [inc] x 6 (12 sts)
• R3: [sc, inc] x 6 (18 sts)
• R4: [2 sc, inc] x 6 (24 sts)
• R5: 24 sc around (24 sts)
• Sl st to next st, FO, leaving a long tail (approx. 6 inches) for sewing.

Muzzle (Make 1 for each bear in Off-White)

• R1: 6 sc in MR (6 sts)
• R2: [inc] x 6 (12 sts)
• Sl st to next st, FO, leaving a long tail (approx. 4 inches) for sewing.

Ears (Make 2 for each bear in specified color)

• R1: In a MR, ch 1, 5 sc. Pull ring tight to close. Sl st to first sc. (5 sts)
• FO, leaving a long tail (approx. 4 inches) for sewing.

Assembly Instructions

You will be making three different bear heads. Follow the assembly steps for each using the specified color combinations:

Bear 1 (Grey-Brown Head, Left Bear in image):

• Head: Grey-Brown
• Muzzle: Off-White
• Ears: Dark Brown
• Embroidery: Black

Bear 2 (Golden Yellow Head, Middle Bear in image):

• Head: Golden Yellow
• Muzzle: Off-White
• Ears: Golden Yellow
• Embroidery: Black

Bear 3 (Cream Head, Right Bear in image):

• Head: Cream
• Muzzle: Off-White
• Ears: Dark Brown
• Embroidery: Black

General Assembly Steps for Each Bear:

1. Embroider Features: Using black embroidery floss and a tapestry needle, stitch two small French knots or tiny straight stitches for the eyes on the Head piece. Position them approximately between R4 and R5. Below the eyes, embroider a small triangular or oval nose.
2. Attach Muzzle: Position the Off-White muzzle onto the lower half of the head, centered below the eyes and nose. Using the tail from the muzzle, sew it securely to the head, tucking in any loose ends.
3. Attach Ears: Take two ears. For each ear, fold it slightly in half if you want a more rounded shape, or flatten it. Position them at the top corners of the head, around R2-R3. Using the tails from the ears, sew them securely in place.
4. Finish: Weave in all remaining loose ends securely into the back of the bear head.

Necklace Assembly:

1. Using jewelry pliers, open a jump ring.
2. Attach one jump ring to the top center of each finished bear head. If desired, slide one of the small decorative beads onto the jump ring before closing it, positioning the bead next to the bear head.
3. Evenly space the three bear heads along your gold necklace chain. Attach each bear head (with or without a bead) to the necklace chain by opening a jump ring and sliding it onto the chain, then closing it securely.
4. Ensure all jump rings are tightly closed to prevent the charms from falling off.
