Crochet Pattern: Crochet Argentina Soccer Jersey Crop Top Free Pattern

Materials

• DK weight yarn in Sky Blue (approx. 150-200g)
• DK weight yarn in White (approx. 100-150g)
• Yellow/Gold embroidery thread or fine sport weight yarn for the Sun emblem
• Size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends and embroidery
• Stitch markers

Instructions

Size Note: This pattern is written for a standard Small/Medium size. You can easily adjust the width by adding or subtracting stripe rows, and adjust the length by altering the initial chain count.

Step 1: Front Panel (Worked in Vertical Rows)

The body of this top is worked sideways to create clean vertical stripes. Start from the left side and work towards the right side.

Using Sky Blue yarn, ch 41.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. (40 sts)

Row 2-6 (Sky Blue): Ch 1, sc in BLO across. Turn.

Row 7-12 (White): Join White yarn. Ch 1, sc in BLO across. Turn.

Row 13-18 (Sky Blue): Join Sky Blue yarn. Ch 1, sc in BLO across. Turn.

Row 19-24 (White): Join White yarn. Ch 1, sc in BLO across. Turn.

Row 25-30 (Sky Blue): Join Sky Blue yarn. Ch 1, sc in BLO across. Turn. (This forms the central stripe where the sun emblem will be embroidered).

Repeat the stripe pattern (White, Sky Blue, White, Sky Blue) in reverse order to complete the front panel. Fasten off.

Step 2: Shaping the V-Neckline

Attach Sky Blue yarn to the top edge of the front panel at the outer edges and work dec rows towards the center to create the classic sweetheart/V-neck shaping as shown in the image. Sc evenly along the top neckline edge, creating decreases at the central cleavage point.

Step 3: Ribbed Under-Bust Band

Using Sky Blue yarn, join at the bottom corner of the body panel.

Row 1: Ch 11. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch back to the body. Sl st into the next 2 sts of the body panel. Turn.

Row 2: Skip the sl sts, sc in BLO of the next 10 sts. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in BLO of the 10 sts, sl st into next 2 sts of the body panel. Turn.

Repeat Rows 2-3 across the entire bottom edge of the panel to create the ribbed band. Fasten off.

Step 4: Scalloped Bottom Edge

Using White yarn, join at the bottom edge of the ribbed band.

Row 1: *Skip 2 sts, 5 dc in next st, skip 2 sts, sl st in next st. Repeat from * across the bottom edge to form the beautiful white scallops.

Step 5: Straps & Trim

Using Sky Blue yarn, attach to the top peak of the front panel. Ch 50 (or desired length for straps), and work sc in each ch back. Fasten off and sew securely to the back panel or back ties. Repeat for the other side.

With White yarn, work a clean sc trim along the entire V-neckline to finish the edge nicely.

Step 6: Sun & Crest Appliques

Using gold/yellow embroidery thread, embroider the Sun of May emblem onto the central blue stripe. Alternatively, crochet a small magic circle with 8 sc, increase to 16 sc, and work small ch-2 points around to create a miniature sun, then sew it onto the center. Embellish the left breast with an AFA patch or custom embroidery as desired.
