Materials

• Crochet Thread or Fine Sport Weight Yarn (approx. 50g each): Red, Black, Yellow, White

• Small amount of fiberfill for stuffing

Abbreviations

Instructions

Gauge: Not critical for this project, just ensure tight stitches so stuffing doesn’t show through.

Note: Work in continuous rounds unless otherwise specified.

Sole (Start with Black yarn)

• R1: Ch 8. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 5 ch, 3 sc in last ch. Turn to work along the other side of the chain. Sc in next 5 ch, 2 sc in last ch. (16 sts)
• R2: Inc, sc in next 5, inc x3, sc in next 5, inc x2. (22 sts)
• R3: Sc in each st around. (22 sts)
• Sl st to first sc and FO.

Boot Body (Join Red yarn)

• R4: Join Red yarn in BLO of any st from R3 of the sole. Sc in BLO of each st around. (22 sts)
• R5-R9: Sc in each st around. (22 sts for 5 rounds)
• R10: Sc in next 6, dec, sc in next 9, dec, sc in next 3. (20 sts)
• R11: Sc in next 5, dec, sc in next 8, dec, sc in next 3. (18 sts)
• R12: Sc in next 4, dec, sc in next 7, dec, sc in next 3. (16 sts)
• R13: Sc in next 3, dec, sc in next 6, dec, sc in next 3. (14 sts)
• Stuff the toe area lightly.

Boot Opening & Heel

Now we will create the opening for the foot and work the heel area.

• R14: Sc in next 7, ch 1, turn. (Leaving remaining 7 sts unworked for the opening).
• R15-R16: Sc in next 7, ch 1, turn. (2 rows)
• R17: Sc in next 7. Turn. (Do not ch 1).
• R18: (Dec) x2, sc in next 3. (5 sts)
• Sl st along the side of the heel and FO.

Boot Trim & Lacing Section (Join Black yarn)

• Join Black yarn at the front opening of the boot, on one side of the unworked 7 stitches.
• Row 1: Sc evenly around the opening of the boot (including the top edge of the heel flap you just made and across the front 7 unworked stitches). Make sure to create 4 loops on each side of the front opening for laces. (Approx. 24-28 sc depending on your spacing and loops).
• Sl st to first sc and FO.

Laces (Black yarn)

• Cut two lengths of Black yarn (approx. 10 cm each). Thread them through the loops on either side of the boot opening like shoelaces, tying a small knot at the top.

Cleats/Studs (White yarn)

• Using White yarn and tapestry needle, make 6-8 small French knots or tiny embroidered bumps evenly spaced on the black sole for the studs.

Details & Embellishments

• Yellow Stripes: Using Yellow yarn and tapestry needle, embroider two thin diagonal lines on each side of the boot, as seen in the image.
• Lion Emblem: Using Yellow yarn, embroider a simplified lion head silhouette on the outer side of the boot.
• “BELGIUM” Text: Using White yarn, embroider the word “BELGIUM” neatly below the lion emblem.
• Black Heel Trim: Using Black yarn, embroider a thin line around the base of the heel for extra detail.

Finishing

• Insert small amount of fiberfill into the boot, ensuring it maintains its shape.
• Sew up any gaps if needed.
• Attach keychain hardware securely to the heel loop of the boot.
