Materials

• Light Beige yarn (for cage)
• White yarn (for bird’s face)
• Light Blue yarn (for bird’s body and head)
• Yellow yarn (for bird’s belly and stripes)
• Brown yarn (for perch)
• Light Green yarn (for leaves)
• Small amount of Orange embroidery floss (for beak)
• 2.0mm crochet hook (or size suitable for tight amigurumi gauge)
• Small safety eyes (approx. 4mm) or black embroidery floss
• Polyester fiberfill for stuffing
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
• Keychain ring and lobster clasp

Base:

• R1: MR, 6 sc in MR. [6]
• R2: (inc) x6. [12]

• R5: (3 sc, inc) x6. [30]
• R6-R7: Sc in each st around. [30]
• Sl st, FO, leave a long tail for sewing.

Top:

• R1: MR, 6 sc in MR. [6]
• R2: (inc) x6. [12]
• R3: (sc, inc) x6. [18]
• R4-R6: Sc in each st around. [18]
• R7: (sc, dec) x6. [12]
• R8: (dec) x6. [6]
• Ch 15 (for hanging loop), sl st into first st of R8. FO, leave a long tail for sewing.

Vertical Bars (Make 10-12):

• Ch 6. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 4 ch. [5]
• FO, leaving tails for sewing. (Each bar should be a thin strip)

Door:

• Ch 6. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 4 ch. [5]

BIRD (Start with Yellow Yarn)

Body:

• R1: MR, 6 sc in MR. [6]

• R4: Sc in next 9 sts (yellow), change to Light Blue yarn, sc in next 9 sts (Light Blue). [18]
• R5: (2 sc, inc) x3 (yellow), (2 sc, inc) x3 (Light Blue). [24]
• R6-R7: Sc in next 12 sts (yellow), sc in next 12 sts (Light Blue). [24]
• R8: (2 sc, dec) x3 (yellow), (2 sc, dec) x3 (Light Blue). [18]
• Stuff body lightly.

Head (Change to White Yarn):

• R9: (sc, dec) x6. [12] (White)
• R10: (Change to Light Blue yarn) Sc in 6 sts (Light Blue), (Change to White yarn) sc in 6 sts (White). [12] (The division is for the face/crown)
• R11: (dec) x6. [6] (White)
• FO, leaving a tail. Insert safety eyes between R9 and R10 on the white part of the head, about 3-4 sts apart. Embroider a tiny orange beak. Finish stuffing. Pull tail through remaining 6 sts and close.

Wings (Light Blue Yarn, Make 2):

• Ch 4. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next, dc in last ch. FO, leaving tail for sewing.

Perch (Brown Yarn):

• Ch 10. Sl st into first ch to form a ring. Sc in each ch around. [10]
• Sl st, FO, leave a tail for sewing. Lightly stuff or keep hollow.

Flower (Cream/Pale Yellow Yarn):

• MR, (ch 2, dc, ch 2, sl st) x5. FO, leaving a tail.

Leaves (Light Green Yarn, Make 2):

• Ch 5. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next, hdc in next, sl st in last. FO, leaving a tail.

ASSEMBLY

1. Sew the ‘Vertical Bars’ evenly spaced between the Cage Base and the Cage Top. Ensure the Base and Top openings align. Leave a gap for the door.
2. Sew the Bird’s Wings to the sides of its Light Blue body.
3. Sew the Perch inside the cage, attaching it to two opposite bars.
4. Carefully place the Budgie inside the cage and sew it onto the Perch and/or the cage base to secure.
5. Attach the Door to one of the vertical bars using a few sl sts or by sewing to create a hinge. You can add a tiny ch loop to the other side of the door to hook onto an adjacent bar.
6. Sew the Flower and Leaves to the side of the cage near the door opening.
7. Attach the keychain ring and lobster clasp to the ch loop on top of the cage.
8. Weave in all remaining ends securely.
