Materials

• DK weight yarn in Skin Tone, Yellow, Blue, Orange, Brown, Grey, and Black
• 2.5 mm crochet hook
• 6 mm safety eyes
• Fiberfill stuffing

Instructions

Head:

Using skin tone yarn, start with a magic ring.

• Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
• Rnd 2: 6 inc (12)
• Rnd 3: [1 sc, inc] x6 (18)
• Rnd 4: [2 sc, inc] x6 (24)
• Rnd 5-9: Sc in each st around (24)
• Insert safety eyes between rounds 7 and 8, spaced 4 sts apart. Embroider cheeks with pink yarn and nose with skin tone.
• Rnd 10: [2 sc, dec] x6 (18)
• Rnd 11: [1 sc, dec] x6 (12). Stuff firmly.
• Rnd 12: 6 dec (6). Fasten off and weave in ends.

Hard Hat:

Using yellow yarn, start with a magic ring.

• Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
• Rnd 2: 6 inc (12)
• Rnd 3: [1 sc, inc] x6 (18)
• Rnd 4: [2 sc, inc] x6 (24)
• Rnd 5: [3 sc, inc] x6 (30)
• Rnd 6-9: Sc in each st around (30)
• Rnd 10 (Brim): Working in FLO, [4 sc, inc] x6 (36). Fasten off.
• Embroider a thin white horizontal stripe just above the brim using white thread. Sew onto the head.

Legs & Body:

Make two legs. Start with brown yarn (boots).

• Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
• Rnd 2: Sc in each st around (6)
• Change to blue yarn (jeans)
• Rnd 3-5: Sc in each st around (6). Fasten off the first leg. Do not cut yarn on the second leg.
• To join legs: Ch 1, join to the first leg with a sc. Sc around both legs and ch space (14 sts).

• Change to dark blue yarn (shirt)

Orange Safety Vest:

Using orange yarn, work in rows.

• Row 1: Ch 13, sc in second ch from hook and each ch across (12), ch 1, turn.
• Row 2: Sc in each st across (12), ch 1, turn.
• Row 3: 2 sc, ch 2, skip 2 sts (armhole), 4 sc, ch 2, skip 2 sts (armhole), 2 sc (12), ch 1, turn.
• Row 4: Sc in each st and ch space across (12). Fasten off.
• Embroider thin yellow safety reflective stripes vertically on the front. Put vest on the body before attaching head.

Arms (Make 2):

Start with skin tone yarn.

• Rnd 1: 5 sc in MR (5)
• Change to blue yarn
• Rnd 2-4: Sc in each st around (5). Fasten off, leaving a tail. Sew to the sides of the body over the vest.

Assembly & Details:

• Sew the head to the body securely.
• Embroider a small black belt around the waist, adding a gold/yellow buckle stitch.
• Using grey felt or embroidered yarn, craft a small hammer and wrench. Sew them to the belt loops on the sides of the waist.
• Attach a metal keyring loop securely to the top center of the yellow hard hat.
