Materials

• DK weight cotton yarn in Bright Red, Yellow, Gold/Mustard, and Black
• 3.5 mm (E-4) crochet hook
• Spain crest applique or patch
• 6 wooden beads for tassel accents

Abbreviations

• ch – chain
• sc – single crochet
• dc – double crochet

Instructions

Granny Square Motif (Make 6):

• With Black, make a magic ring. Ch 3, 11 dc into ring. Sl st to join. Fasten off.
• Join Gold yarn. [Ch 3, 2 dc in same space, ch 1, skip 1 st] repeat around. Join and fasten off.
• Join Yellow yarn. Working in ch-1 spaces, work 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc for corners, and 3 dc in non-corner spaces to form a square. Fasten off.
• Join Red yarn. Sc around entire square, working 3 sc in corners. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Front Panel & Bodice:

Construct the central front panel using solid double crochet rows in Red. If adding lettering or a patch, sew the Spain crest patch centrally. Use yellow yarn to surface slip stitch or embroider “ESPAÑA 2024” and “10” onto the front. Join three granny squares to each side of the central front panel using a slip stitch join technique.

Back Panel:

Crochet a matching solid panel in Red using rows of double crochet to match the dimensions of the front bodice. Sew the front and back panels together at the side seams, leaving openings for the arms.

Layered Ruffled Sleeves:

Join Red yarn to the armhole opening. Work 1 round of dc. To create the layered ruffles:
