Materials

• Sport/DK weight yarn in Dark Blue
• Sport/DK weight yarn in White
• Sport/DK weight yarn in Black
• Sport/DK weight yarn in Yellow (for emblem)
• Sport/DK weight yarn in Red (for emblem)
• 2.5mm crochet hook
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch markers
• Small amount of polyester fiberfill
• Keychain ring

Instructions

This pattern is worked in continuous rounds unless otherwise stated. Use a stitch marker to keep track of your first stitch.

Sole (Start with White yarn)

• Ch 10.
• Rnd 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 7 ch, 3 sc in last ch. Turn to work on the other side of the chain. Sc in next 7 ch, 2 sc in last ch. (20 sts)
• Rnd 2: Inc, sc in next 7, inc x3, sc in next 7, inc x2. (26 sts)
• Rnd 3: Sc around. (26 sts)
• Sl st to first sc. FO.
• Embellishment: Using black yarn and a tapestry needle, embroider small black “studs” (French knots) evenly on the sole.

Shoe Body (Blue yarn)

• Join blue yarn to any BLO stitch of Rnd 3 of the sole.
• Rnd 4: BLO sc around. (26 sts)
• Rnd 5-6: Sc around. (26 sts)
• Rnd 7 (Toe shaping): Sc in next 8 sts, dec x2, sc in next 8 sts, dec x2. (22 sts)
• Rnd 8 (Creating lace opening – working in rows): Sc in next 7 sts, leave remaining stitches unworked for now. This forms the back part of the shoe body and leaves a gap for the tongue and laces.
• Row 9: Ch 1, turn, sc in next 7 sts.
• Row 10-12: Repeat Row 9 three more times. (Total of 4 rows for this side)
• FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.
• Second side of lace opening: Rejoin blue yarn to the other side of the shoe body, skipping 8 stitches from where Rnd 8 ended (this creates the ‘tongue’ opening). Ch 1, sc in next 7 sts.
• Row 9′-12′: Repeat Rows 9-12 for this second side.
• FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.
• Stuffing: Lightly stuff the shoe body with fiberfill.

Tongue (Blue yarn)

• Ch 6.
• Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 4 ch. (5 sts)
• Row 2-5: Ch 1, turn, sc in next 5 sts. (5 rows total)
• FO, leaving a long tail. Sew this tongue piece underneath the lace opening, securing it at the front and back inside the shoe.

Laces (White yarn)

• Cut a length of white yarn (approx. 20 cm) and thread it through a tapestry needle.
• Embroider small “eyelets” on both sides of the lace opening where you worked the rows for the shoe body.
• Starting from the bottom “eyelets”, thread the white yarn criss-cross style up to the top. Tie a small decorative bow.

Side Stripes (White yarn)

• Using white yarn and a tapestry needle, surface slip stitch three stripes on each side of the shoe, angling them slightly as seen in the image.

Emblem (Yellow and Red yarn)

• On the outside of one side of the shoe, embroider a shield shape with yellow yarn.
• Inside the yellow shield, embroider a simplified red lion rampant (or a similar symbol) using red yarn.

Keychain Loop (Blue yarn)

• Attach blue yarn to the center back top of the heel.
• Ch 12, sl st back into the same stitch to form a sturdy loop.
• Securely weave in all remaining yarn ends.
• Attach the keychain ring to this loop.
