Crochet Pattern: Crochet Frog Pouch Pattern with Zipper – A Fun Amigurumi Project

Materials

• Worsted weight yarn in Olive Green (main body)
• Worsted weight yarn in Dark Brown (strap)
• Worsted weight yarn in Gold/Yellow (eye details)
• Red embroidery floss (mouth)
• 3.5mm crochet hook (or size needed to achieve tight stitches)
• Two 12-15mm black safety eyes
• One 5-inch (approx. 13cm) zipper (silver or matching green)
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch markers
• Polyester fiberfill for stuffing

• MR: Magic Ring
• ch: Chain
• sc: Single Crochet
• inc: Increase (2 sc in one stitch)
• dec: Decrease (sc 2 stitches together)
• sl st: Slip Stitch
• FO: Fasten Off

Instructions

Gauge: Not critical for this project, just ensure stitches are tight enough to prevent stuffing from showing through.

Notes: Work in continuous rounds unless otherwise specified. Use a stitch marker to keep track of your first stitch in each round.

Body (Make 2 halves – Olive Green)

We will make two identical oval pieces that will be sewn together to form the pouch.

• Ch 16 (or adjust chain length for desired pouch size, ensuring it’s compatible with your zipper length).
• R1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 13 ch, 3 sc in last ch. Turn to work on other side of chain: sc in next 13 ch, 2 sc in last ch. (32 stitches)
• R2: Inc, sc in 13, inc x3, sc in 13, inc x2. (38 stitches)
• R3: (Sc in 6, inc) x4, sc in 10. (42 stitches)
• R4-8: Sc in each stitch around. (42 stitches)
• FO and leave a long tail for sewing. Repeat for the second body half.

Eyes (Make 2 – Olive Green, Gold/Yellow, Black safety eyes)

Green Base:

• MR 6 sc. (6)
• R1: Inc x6. (12)
• R2: (Sc, inc) x6. (18)
• R3-4: Sc in each stitch around. (18)
• Insert safety eye now, between R2 and R3.
• R5: (Sc, dec) x6. (12)
• Stuff lightly.
• R6: Dec x6. (6)
• FO, weave in tail to close the small opening.

Gold/Yellow Rim:

• MR 6 sc. (6)
• R1: Inc x6. (12)
• FO, leave a tail for sewing.

Sew the gold/yellow rim around the safety eye on the green base.

Legs (Make 4 – Olive Green)

• MR 6 sc. (6)
• R1: (Sc, inc) x3. (9)
• R2-4: Sc in each stitch around. (9)
• R5: (Sc, dec) x3. (6)
• FO, leave a tail for sewing. Do not stuff.

Strap (Dark Brown)

• Ch 5.
• R1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 3 ch. Ch 1, turn. (4 stitches)
• Repeat R1 until the strap measures approximately 20-25 inches (50-63 cm) or desired length.
• FO, leave long tails for sewing.

Assembly

1. Attach Zipper to Body Halves: Take your zipper. On one body half, align one side of the zipper along the flat edge you created at the top (the edge where you finished after R8 before FO). Using a tapestry needle and matching thread, carefully sew the zipper to this edge. Repeat with the second body half, attaching the other side of the zipper to its corresponding edge.
2. Join Body Halves: With the zipper open, place the two body halves together, right sides facing out. Using the long tails left from the body halves, or a fresh piece of olive green yarn, sc or whip stitch the two halves together around the outer edge, starting from one end of the zipper and going all the way around to the other end of the zipper. Make sure to leave the zippered opening free.
3. Stuffing: Lightly stuff the frog body through the zipper opening.
4. Attach Eyes: Position the finished eyes on the top of the frog’s head, slightly towards the front. Sew them securely in place with the tails.
5. Embroider Mouth: Using red embroidery floss and a tapestry needle, embroider a smiling mouth on the frog’s face, beneath the eyes.
6. Attach Legs: Sew the four legs to the bottom sides of the frog’s body, evenly spaced.
7. Attach Strap: Sew each end of the dark brown strap to the frog’s back, near the zipper ends, creating a functional handle.
8. Weave in all remaining ends.
