Crochet Pikachu Hat Pattern – Handmade Pokémon-Inspired Beanie

Materials Needed:

• Worsted weight yarn in:
  • Yellow (main color)

Adjust rounds as needed depending on head size.

Earflaps (make 2)

From the last round of the hat, count 10 stitches to place each flap.

Attach yarn and work flat:

1. Row 1: sc 12
2. Row 2: turn, sc2tog, 8 sc, sc2tog [10]
3. Row 3: turn, sc2tog, 6 sc, sc2tog [8]
4. Row 4: turn, sc2tog, 4 sc, sc2tog [6]
5. Row 5: turn, sc2tog, 2 sc, sc2tog [4]
6. Row 6: turn, sc2tog twice [2]
7. Row 7: sc2tog [1]
   Fasten off and weave in ends.

Repeat for second flap.

Optionally add braided ties or black edging around the hat.

Pikachu Ears (Make 2)

Start with black yarn:

1. MR, 6 sc [6]
2. (sc, inc) x3 [9]
3. (2 sc, inc) x3 [12]
4. Switch to yellow: sc around [12]
   5–10. sc around [12]
5. (2 sc, dec) x3 [9]
6. sc around [9]
7. (sc, dec) x3 [6]
   Stuff lightly. Fasten off and leave long tail to sew to top of hat.

Red Cheeks (Make 2)

Using red yarn:

1. MR, 6 sc
2. inc x6 [12]
   Fasten off, leave tail for sewing to face.

Eyes (Make 2)

White part:

1. MR, 6 sc
2. (sc, inc) x3 [9]
   Fasten off.

Black pupil:

1. MR, 4 sc
2. sl st to finish, sew over the center of the white part.

Sew both eyes symmetrically onto the front of the hat.

Nose and Mouth

Use black yarn to embroider a small “v” shape for the nose and a slight zigzag or curved line for the smile.

Tail (Optional)

Make a lightning bolt shape flat or 3D using yellow and brown yarn. Lightly stuff and sew to the back or side of the hat.

Assembly

1. Sew ears to the top of the hat, angled slightly outward.
2. Sew red cheeks below the eyes, centered.
3. Sew eyes onto the front.
4. Embroider nose and smile.
5. Optionally sew or attach tail at back.
6. Weave in all loose ends.
