Materials

Instructions

This pattern is sized for a 0-6 month baby (head circumference approx. 14-16 inches). Adjust hook size or add/remove increase rounds for different sizes.

Hat Base (Red Yarn)

• Rnd 1: Start with Red yarn. Make a magic ring, ch 1, 8 hdc into ring. Join with sl st to first hdc. (8 hdc)
• Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each st around. Join. (16 hdc)
• Rnd 3: Ch 1, [2 hdc in first st, 1 hdc in next st] repeat around. Join. (24 hdc)
• Rnd 4: Ch 1, [2 hdc in first st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts] repeat around. Join. (32 hdc)
• Rnd 5: Ch 1, [2 hdc in first st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts] repeat around. Join. (40 hdc)
• Rnd 6: Ch 1, [2 hdc in first st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts] repeat around. Join. (48 hdc)
• Rnd 7-10: Ch 1, 1 hdc in each st around. Join. (48 hdc)

Blue Stripe (Blue Yarn)

• Rnd 11-12: Switch to Blue yarn. Ch 1, 1 hdc in each st around. Join. (48 hdc)

Bottom Edge (Red Yarn)

• Rnd 13-14: Switch back to Red yarn. Ch 1, 1 hdc in each st around. Join. (48 hdc)
• Rnd 15: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st around. Join. FO and weave in ends. (48 sc)

Spiderman Eyes (Make 2 – White & Black Yarn)

• Using White Yarn:
• Row 1: Ch 8. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 5 ch, 3 sc in last ch. Turn to work along opposite side of chain. Sc in next 5 ch, 2 sc in last ch. Join with sl st to first sc. (16 sc)
• Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next 3 sts, sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in last 2 sts. Join with sl st to first sc. (24 sc)
• FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.
• Using Black Yarn (Eye Outline):
• With a yarn needle and Black yarn, use surface embroidery or surface slip stitch around the entire edge of each white eye shape to create the black border.

Webbing Details (Black Yarn)

Using Black yarn and a yarn needle (or surface slip stitch), create the web pattern directly onto the red sections of the hat. Refer to the image for placement.

• Radial Lines: Starting from the center top of the red hat crown, create 6-8 radiating lines stretching down towards the blue stripe.
• Concentric Lines: Create 2-3 concentric arched lines connecting the radial lines, mimicking a spider web.

Assembly

• Position the two finished Spiderman eyes on the red portion of the hat, ensuring they are symmetrical and centered.
• Using the long tails left from the white eyes and a yarn needle, securely sew the eyes onto the hat. Weave in all remaining loose ends.
