Crocheted Cupcake Welcome Sign

Materials Needed:

• Yarn in pink, white, green, red, and beige
• Crochet hook (size appropriate for your yarn)
• Safety eyes or black beads for eyes
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
• Hot glue gun (optional for attaching parts)

Instructions:

Cupcake Base:

1. Round 1: With pink yarn, make a magic ring and crochet 6 single crochets (sc) into the ring. Pull tight to close. (6 sts)
2. Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around. (12 sts)
3. Round 3: 1 sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch repeat around. (18 sts)
4. Round 4: 1 sc in next 2 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch repeat around. (24 sts)
5. Round 5: 1 sc in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch repeat around. (30 sts)
6. Rounds 6-12: Sc in each stitch around. (30 sts)
7. Round 13: 1 sc in next 3 stitches, sc2tog repeat around. (24 sts)
8. Round 14: 1 sc in next 2 stitches, sc2tog repeat around. (18 sts)
9. Round 15: 1 sc in next stitch, sc2tog repeat around. (12 sts)
10. Add safety eyes between rounds 6 and 7, about 6 stitches apart. Embroider the mouth with black yarn.
11. Round 16: Sc2tog around. (6 sts)
12. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff the cupcake with fiberfill and sew the opening closed.

Cupcake Frosting:

1. Round 1: With white yarn, chain 25. Join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
2. Rounds 2-3: Sc in each stitch around. (25 sts)
3. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the frosting around the top edge of the cupcake base.

Cherry:

1. Round 1: With red yarn, make a magic ring and crochet 6 sc into the ring. Pull tight to close. (6 sts)
2. Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around. (12 sts)
3. Round 3: Sc in each stitch around. (12 sts)
4. Round 4: Sc2tog around. (6 sts)
5. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff the cherry lightly and sew it onto the top of the cupcake.

Leaf:

1. Row 1: With green yarn, chain 7. Sc in the second chain from the hook and in the next 5 chains. (6 sts)
2. Row 2: Chain 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in next 2 stitches, sc2tog. (4 sts)
3. Row 3: Chain 1, turn, sc2tog, sc2tog. (2 sts)
4. Row 4: Chain 1, turn, sc2tog. (1 st)
5. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the leaf next to the cherry on top of the cupcake.

Welcome Sign:

1. Row 1: With beige yarn, chain 21. Sc in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across. (20 sts)
2. Rows 2-5: Chain 1, turn, sc in each stitch across. (20 sts)
3. Fasten off and switch to black yarn.
4. Using black yarn, embroider the word “WELCOME” onto the beige rectangle.

Assembly:

1. Attach the welcome sign to the bottom of the cupcake using the yarn needle or a hot glue gun.
2. Cut a piece of beige yarn or use a braided cord to create a loop for hanging. Attach it to the top of the cupcake.
