Crocheted Monkey Welcome Sign

Materials Needed:

• Yarn in brown, tan, white, green, black, and orange
• Crochet hook (size appropriate for your yarn)
• Safety eyes or black beads for eyes
• Fiberfill stuffing

Instructions:

Monkey Head:

1. Round 1: With brown yarn, make a magic ring and crochet 6 single crochets (sc) into the ring. Pull tight to close. (6 sts)

3. Round 3: 1 sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch repeat around. (18 sts)

8. Round 12: 1 sc in next 2 stitches, sc2tog repeat around. (18 sts)

10. Add safety eyes between rounds 6 and 7, about 6 stitches apart. Embroider the nose and mouth with black yarn.
11. Round 14: Sc2tog around. (6 sts)
12. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff the head with fiberfill and sew the opening closed.

Ears (make 2):

1. Round 1: With brown yarn, make a magic ring and crochet 6 sc into the ring. Pull tight to close. (6 sts)

Welcome Sign:

1. Row 1: With white yarn, chain 26. Sc in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across. (25 sts)
2. Rows 2-10: Chain 1, turn, sc in each stitch across. (25 sts)
3. Fasten off and switch to brown yarn.
4. Row 11: Sc around the edge of the white rectangle to create a border. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc.
5. Using black yarn, embroider the word “WELCOME” onto the white rectangle.

Hands (make 2):

1. Round 1: With orange yarn, make a magic ring and crochet 6 sc into the ring. Pull tight to close. (6 sts)
2. Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around. (12 sts)
3. Round 3: 1 sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch repeat around. (18 sts)
