Materials

• Fingering weight yarn in Terracotta/Orange, Cream, and Navy Blue

Instructions

Head and Body:

Using Terracotta yarn, start with a magic ring.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)

Rnd 2: inc in each st around (12)

Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) around (18)

Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) around (24)

Rnd 5-9: sc in each st around (24). Attach safety eyes between Rnds 7 and 8, spaced 10 sts apart.

Rnd 10: (3 sc, inc) around (30)

Rnd 11-15: sc in each st around (30)

Rnd 16: (3 sc, dec) around (24)

Rnd 17: (2 sc, dec) around (18). Begin stuffing firmly with fiberfill.

Rnd 18-25: Continue shaping the body by working sc around, expanding slightly to (24) sts for the belly, then decreasing back to (12) sts at the base.

Rnd 26-35: For the tail, decrease to 8 sts and sc in rounds, gradually decreasing to 4 sts at the tip. Fasten off.

Beard and Spikes:

Using Cream yarn, join to the lower jawline. Work (ch 2, sl st in next st) repeatedly around the chin area to form the characteristic bearded dragon spikes.

Belly Patch:

Using Cream yarn, work in flat rows. Row 1: ch 6, sc across. Row 2-12: inc at start and end of rows to match the body shape, then sew onto the front of the body.

Miniature Book:

Using Navy Blue yarn, ch 12. Row 1-8: sc across to create the cover. Switch to Cream yarn, crochet a smaller insert for pages, sew together, and embroider ‘Library Tales’ on the front cover.
