Materials

Instructions

Part 1: The Crochet Cross (Make 1)

• Vertical Arm: Ch 15.
• Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (14 sc). Fasten off.
• Horizontal Arm: Join thread with a sl st in the 7th sc of the Vertical Arm (center). Ch 7.
• Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 5 ch. (6 sc). Sl st into the 7th sc of the Vertical Arm to secure. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Part 2: The Lace Medallion (V-Shape)

The V-shape is formed by creating and joining multiple small lace ‘Petal Motifs’ and then edging the entire piece.

• Petal Motif (Make 10-12):
  • Ch 6, sl st to 1st ch to form a ring.
  • Round 1: Ch 1, 10 sc in ring. Join with sl st to 1st sc.
  • Round 2: Ch 1, sc in 1st sc, (ch 3, sk next sc, sc in next sc) 4 times, ch 3, sl st to 1st sc. (5 ch-3 sps).

• Assembling the V-Shape:
  • Row 1: Take 1 Petal Motif. This will be the bottom point of your V.
  • Row 2: Take 2 Petal Motifs. Join the first of these to one side of the Row 1 motif by making a sl st or sc into a picot/ch-sp on Row 1 motif as you work the final round of the new motif. Join the second Row 2 motif to the other side of Row 1 motif and also to the first Row 2 motif.
  • Row 3: Take 3 Petal Motifs. Join these to the motifs in Row 2 in a similar fashion, ensuring they are connected to form the next wider row.
  • Row 4 (Top Row): Take 4 Petal Motifs. Join these to the motifs in Row 3 to complete the V-shape. This row will form the two upper points of the necklace.
  • Alternatively, motifs can be made individually and then whip-stitched together securely using matching thread. Ensure the joins are neat and invisible.
• Edging the V-Shape Medallion:
  • Join thread with a sl st to one of the top outer corners of the assembled V-shape.
  • Work an edging around the entire outer perimeter of the V. This typically involves:
    • (Sc, ch 3, picot, ch 3, sc) into each exposed ch-sp or picot point of the motifs along the edge.
    • Sl st into join points between motifs for neatness.
    • Continue around the entire V, maintaining an even tension and delicate look.
  • Fasten off and weave in ends.

Part 3: Assembly and Finishing

• Attach Cross: Carefully position the Crochet Cross onto the center point of the V-shaped Lace Medallion. Using the long tail or a separate piece of matching thread, sew the cross securely in place.
