Materials

• Sport weight yarn in Teal, Cream, White, and Red
• 2.5 mm crochet hook
• Fiberfill stuffing
• Yarn needle and embroidery needle
• Keychain ring, jump rings, and decorative charms/beads
• Scissors

Instructions

Book Cover (Teal):

Row 1: Ch 11, sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (10 sts)

Rows 2-24: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (10 sts)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for assembly. Fold the cover in half to locate the front cover panel for embroidery.

Cover Embroidery:

Using white embroidery floss or thin white yarn, stitch the word ‘BOOK’ onto the upper half of the front cover. Below the word, embroider a small rectangular border to represent an open page, and stitch a tiny heart in the center using red yarn.

Book Pages (Cream – Make 2 Panels & Side Strip):

Page Panels (Make 2):

Row 1: Ch 9, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (8 sts)

Rows 2-8: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (8 sts)

Fasten off.

Side Page Strip (Make 1):

Row 1: Ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (4 sts)

Rows 2-24: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (4 sts)

Fasten off. Join the two page panels together by sewing the side strip around three of the outer edges, leaving one side open (which will press against the spine). Lightly stuff the page assembly with fiberfill before sewing completely shut.

Hanging Strap (Teal):

Ch 40, slip stitch into the very first chain to create a loop. Fasten off, leaving a tail to attach to the book spine.

Assembly:

• Wrap the embroidered Teal cover around the Cream page block.
• Using a yarn needle and Teal yarn, sew the inner top and bottom edges of the cover to the page block to secure it in place.
• Securely sew the Teal hanging strap to the top-middle spine of the book.
• Attach a keychain ring, a wooden bead, and any decorative key charms to the loop to complete your bookish accessory!
