Materials

• Crochet thread, Size 10, Light Blue/Grey (approx. 50-70 yards)

Instructions

I. The Crocheted Cross Base (Two Pieces):

• Vertical Bar: Ch 6. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (5 sc) Ch 1, turn. Rep Sc rows for 16 rows total. FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.
• Horizontal Bar: Ch 6. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (5 sc) Ch 1, turn. Rep Sc rows for 10 rows total. FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Joining the Cross Base:

• Lay the Horizontal Bar across the center of the Vertical Bar, forming a cross shape. The horizontal bar should overlap the vertical bar by approximately 5 rows in the center, leaving 5 rows extending upwards and 5 rows extending downwards from the intersection.
• Using the tails and/or matching sewing thread, carefully sew the horizontal bar securely to the vertical bar. This forms your solid crocheted cross base.

Edging the Cross Base:

• Join light blue/grey thread with a sl st to any st on the outer edge of the assembled cross.
• Round 1: Ch 1, work sc evenly around the entire perimeter of the cross, placing 3 sc in each corner point (where the arms meet the main body, and at the ends of each arm). Sl st to first sc to join. FO.

II. Beading the Cross:

• Using a beading needle and matching sewing thread, sew the gold and silver seed beads onto the center area of the crocheted cross base. Create a pattern similar to the image, with a central line of silver beads and gold beads bordering them, filling the inner space of the cross. Secure all beads firmly on the back.

III. Crocheted Cross Border:

• Join light blue/grey thread with a sl st to any st along the outer edge of the beaded cross (preferably one of the vertical arms).
• Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around the perimeter of the cross. For a more decorative and defined edge, work (sc, ch 2, sc) in the specific corner points and ends of the cross arms. Sl st to first sc to join. FO.

IV. The Necklace Strap:

V. Necklace Strap Embellishments:

Make 10-12 Leaf Motifs (adjust for desired coverage):

• Ch 5, sl st to first ch to form a ring.
• Ch 1, (sc, ch 3, dc, ch 3, sc) into the ring. Sl st to first sc to join. FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.
• Carefully sew one small pearl bead into the center of the ‘dc’ of each leaf motif.

Attach Motifs to Strap:

• Position the finished leaf motifs evenly along the front portion of the necklace strap, on both sides of where the cross will be attached. Start approximately 5-7 stitches from the center on each side.
• Using the tails or matching sewing thread, securely sew each leaf motif to the necklace strap. Ensure symmetrical placement.

VI. Finishing and Assembly:

• Attach the finished cross pendant to the center front of the embellished necklace strap using a jump ring or by carefully sewing it.
• Attach a jump ring to one end of the necklace strap and the clasp to the other end using needle-nose pliers.
• Weave in all remaining loose ends securely with a tapestry needle.
