Materials

Instructions

Butterfly Wing Lobe (Make 4 per butterfly: 2 larger, 2 smaller)

• Larger Lobe: With chosen thread color (Light Yellow, Light Blue, or Light Pink), Ch 5. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next, 4 dc in last ch. Working down the other side of the chain: dc in next, hdc in next, sl st in last. Fasten off, leaving a short tail for weaving in.
• Smaller Lobe: With chosen thread color, Ch 4. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next, 4 hdc in last ch. Working down the other side of the chain: hdc in next, sl st in last. Fasten off, leaving a short tail.

Assemble One Butterfly (Repeat for 6 butterflies total: 2 yellow, 2 blue, 2 pink)

Weave in all initial tails before assembly.

1. Take two Larger Lobes. Join them at their flat bases using a tapestry needle and a few stitches, creating the upper wing pair.
2. Take two Smaller Lobes. Join them at their flat bases similarly, creating the lower wing pair.
3. Carefully overlap the upper wing pair slightly over the lower wing pair, shaping your butterfly. Secure them together in the middle with a few discrete stitches.
4. Body: With corresponding butterfly thread color, Ch 7. Sl st into 2nd ch from hook and continue to sl st along the remaining chains to create a stiff, narrow body piece. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
5. Position the crocheted body piece along the center of your assembled wings and sew it securely in place. Weave in ends.

Crochet Leaves (Make approximately 10-12)

2. Butterfly Antennae: For each butterfly, cut two short pieces of fine gauge jewelry wire (approx. 3-4 cm each). Thread a tiny silver bead onto one end of each wire and make a small loop with your pliers to secure the bead. Insert the other end of the wire into the top of the butterfly’s body and bend it to secure. Shape the antennae.
3. Attach Elements: Using small jump rings or by carefully stitching with matching thread, attach the butterflies and leaves to the crocheted necklace base according to your planned layout.
4. Add Pearls & Beads: Thread small white and pink pearls, and tiny silver beads onto headpins. Create a small loop at the end of each headpin.
