Instructions

This necklace is constructed from two types of floral motifs: a larger 8-petal motif (L-Motif) and a smaller 6-petal motif (S-Motif). You will create several of each and then join them to form the necklace.

• L-Motif (Large Floral Motif – Make 5)

Round 1 (Yarn A): Create a MR, ch1, make 8 sc into the ring, sl st to the first sc to close. (8 sc)

Round 2 (Yarn B – Pale Lavender): *Ch5, sl st into the next sc* repeat 8 times around. Sl st into the base of the first ch5. (8 ch5-loops)

Round 3 (Yarn C – Mint Green): Sl st into the first ch5-loop. Ch1, then work (sc, hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc, sc) into the same ch5-loop. Repeat this sequence into each of the remaining 7 ch5-loops around. Sl st to the first sc to close. (8 petals). FO.

Round 4 (Yarn A – Light Cream – Edging & Joining): Join Yarn A with a sl st into the tr stitch at the tip of any petal. Ch1, then work (sc, picot, sc) into the same tr st. *Work sc into each of the next 2 sts on the petal, sl st into the sl st between petals from Round 2, work sc into each of the next 2 sts on the next petal, then (sc, picot, sc) into the tr st at the tip of the petal.* Repeat around. • S-Motif (Small Floral Motif – Make 6)

Round 1 (Yarn A): Create a MR, ch1, make 6 sc into the ring, sl st to the first sc to close. (6 sc)

Round 2 (Yarn C – Mint Green): *Ch4, sl st into the next sc* repeat 6 times around. Sl st into the base of the first ch4. (6 ch4-loops)

Round 3 (Yarn A – Light Cream – Edging & Joining): Sl st into the first ch4-loop. Ch1, then work (sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc) into the same ch4-loop. Assembly:

Refer to the image for the exact layout. The necklace forms a gradual taper from a wider central section to a narrower back chain. You will join motifs as you go, using the final round of each motif to connect.

1. Centerpiece: Begin by joining three L-Motifs. Join the center L-Motif (L1) to two other L-Motifs (L2 and L3) on either side, connecting them at 2-3 picot/petal points along their edges to form a wide V-shape.
2. First Layer of Sides: Attach an S-Motif (S1) to the outer top point of L2 and another S-Motif (S2) to the outer top point of L3. Connect them at appropriate petal tips.
3. Second Layer of Sides: Attach an L-Motif (L4) to the outer point of S1 and another L-Motif (L5) to the outer point of S2. Connect them to the S-motifs and potentially to each other if they meet, continuing the V-shape.
4. Tapering the Sides: Continue attaching S-Motifs, joining them to the outer tips of the L-Motifs and previous S-Motifs, gradually extending the necklace and tapering the width towards the back of the neck. For instance, attach S-Motifs to L4 and L5, and then another set of S-Motifs to those.
5. Finishing Chain: Once you have reached the desired length for the crocheted portion of the necklace on both sides, join Yarn A to the last S-Motif on one side. Ch 40-60 (or to desired length for around the back of the neck), sl st into a small jump ring, ch1, sc around the jump ring if needed, then ch another 40-60, sl st to the last S-Motif on the other side. 6. Attach Clasp: Attach the small jewelry clasp to one jump ring and secure it.
