Instructions

This pattern creates individual Floral Scallop Motifs that are then joined together. You will need to make approximately 10-12 motifs, depending on your desired necklace length. Pre-string your gold seed beads onto Color C thread before starting the Teal layer.

Floral Scallop Motif (Make 10-12)

Center (Color A – Coral)

• Round 1: Ch 4, sl st to first ch to form a ring. Ch 1, work 8 sc into ring. Sl st to first sc to join. (8 sc)
• Round 2: Ch 2 (counts as hdc), hdc in same st, ch 1. *2 hdc in next st, ch 1*. Rep from * 7 more times. Sl st to top of first ch-2 to join. (16 hdc, 8 ch-1 spaces) FO Color A.

Middle Layer (Color B – Burgundy)

• Round 3: Join Color B in any ch-1 space from Round 2. Ch 3 (counts as dc), (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same ch-1 space (first shell made). *Ch 1, sk 2 hdc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-1 space*. Rep from * 7 more times. Ch 1, sl st to top of first ch-3 to join. (8 shells, 8 ch-1 spaces) FO Color B.

Outer Layer (Color C – Teal) & Joining

• Round 4: Join Color C in any ch-2 space of a shell. Ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in same ch-2 space. *Ch 3, sk (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc), (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-2 space*. Rep from * 7 more times. Ch 3, sl st to first sc to join.
• Round 5: Sl st into first ch-3 space. Ch 1, (sc, 2 hdc, 3 dc, 2 hdc, sc) in same ch-3 space (first scallop made). *In next ch-3 space: sc, 2 hdc, [bead, 1 dc, bead], 1 dc, 2 hdc, sc (this is a beaded scallop). In next ch-3 space: sc, 2 hdc, 3 dc, 2 hdc, sc*. Rep from * around, alternating plain scallops and beaded scallops. You will have 4 plain and 4 beaded scallops per motif. Sl st to first sc to join. FO, leaving a long tail for joining if this is your first motif.

Assembling the Necklace

• Joining Motifs: To join motifs, when working the final (teal) round of subsequent motifs, replace the center dc of the middle beaded scallop with a sl st into the corresponding center dc of an already completed motif’s beaded scallop. Ensure the motifs are arranged with alternating plain and beaded scallops for a continuous flow. Join 10-12 motifs in a line.
• Attaching Chain: Once all motifs are joined, use jump rings to attach each end of the joined motif section to the jewelry chain. Add the lobster clasp to one end of the chain. Weave a small piece of Color C thread with a few beads onto the chain near the join for a decorative touch, as seen in the image. Secure all ends.

Finishing

Weave in all remaining loose ends securely. Gently block your necklace if desired to ensure a smooth, even shape.
