Materials

Instructions

Bag Body (Make 2 panels in Red)

• R1: Ch 31. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (30 sc)
• R2-35: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across. (30 sc)
• FO, leaving a long tail on one panel for seaming.

Bag Assembly

• Place the two panels together, right sides facing.
• Using the long tail and yarn needle (or sc around with Red yarn), seam three sides of the bag (bottom and two sides). Leave the top open. Weave in ends.

Braided Handle (Approx. 40-45 inches long)

• Cut 6 strands of yarn, each approx. 90-100 inches long (2 Red, 2 Green, 2 White).
• Gather the strands, fold in half, and tie a knot near the folded end, leaving a loop.
• Divide the 6 strands into three groups of two (one Red pair, one Green pair, one White pair).
• Braid the three groups together tightly until desired length is reached.
• Tie a knot at the end to secure the braid. Trim excess yarn.
• Sew one end of the handle to the top corner of the bag opening. Sew the other end to the opposite top corner.

Tassels (Make 12-15 in Red, Green, White)

• Cut a piece of cardboard or use a phone case (approx. 3-4 inches tall).

• Cut a small piece of yarn (approx. 6 inches) and thread it under the wrapped yarn at the top edge of the cardboard. Tie a tight knot. This will be used to attach the tassel to the bag.

Finishing Touches

• Lightly stuff each applique before fully sewing onto the bag to give it a slight raised effect, as seen in the image.
