Materials

• Fingering weight yarn in Light Blue and White
• 2.0 mm crochet hook
• 6mm safety eyes
• Polyester fiberfill stuffing
• Wooden toothpick or thin dowel (for the mast)
• Keychain ring, jump rings, and optional metal anchor charm
• Yarn needle, embroidery thread, and fabric glue

Rnd 7-10: sc around (18) – Insert safety eyes between Rnds 5 and 6, about 6 sts apart.

Start color changing for the belly: Work the top 10 sts in Light Blue and the bottom 8 sts in White. Keep carrying the yarn or float it inside.

Rnd 11-16: 10 sc in Blue, 8 sc in White (18)

Stuff the body firmly with fiberfill.

Pectoral Fins (Make 2): Rnd 1: 4 sc in magic ring. Rnd 2: [sc, inc] x 2 (6). Rnd 3: sc around (6). Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing to the sides of the body.

Dorsal Fin: Rnd 1: 4 sc in magic ring. Rnd 2: [sc, inc] x 2 (6). Rnd 3: [2 sc, inc] x 2 (8). Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing to the back of the dolphin.

Tail Fin: Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring. Rnd 2: [sc, inc] x 3 (9). Rnd 3: Fold in half and sc across both layers to close. Make two of these tiny flat cones and sew them together at the base, then sew to the tail end of the dolphin.

Boat Hull (Blue yarn): Rnd 1: Ch 8, starting in 2nd ch from hook: 6 sc, 3 sc in last ch, turn to work on opposite side of ch: 5 sc, inc (16). Rnd 2: inc, 5 sc, inc x 3, 5 sc, inc x 2 (22). Rnd 3: Work in BLO: sc around (22). Rnd 4: sc around (22). Fasten off.

Deck (White yarn): Repeat Rnd 1 and 2 of Boat Hull. Sew or glue the deck into the top opening of the hull, stuffing lightly before closing.

Sail (Striped Blue and White): Ch 8 with Blue. Row 1: sc across (7), change to White. Row 2: dec, 3 sc, dec (5), change to Blue. Row 3: dec, 1 sc, dec (3), change to White. Row 4: dec, sc (2), change to Blue. Row 5: dec (1). Fasten off. Write ‘SAIL’ on the sail using embroidery thread. Insert a wooden toothpick through the sail and secure it into the boat deck with glue.

Sew the fins to the dolphin’s body. Use a jump ring to attach a keychain loop to the top of the dolphin’s dorsal fin. Attach the sailboat to the dolphin using a small chain of blue yarn. Add an anchor charm for an extra nautical touch!
