Materials

Instructions

Step 1: The Central Circle (White Base)

With White yarn, start with a Magic Ring (MR).

• Round 1: Ch 2 (does not count as st), 12 dc into MR. Sl st to first dc to join. (12 sts)
• Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around. Sl st to join. (24 sts)
• Round 3: Ch 2, *1 dc, 2 dc in next st* repeat around. Sl st to join. (36 sts)
• Round 4: Ch 2, *2 dc, 2 dc in next st* repeat around. Sl st to join. (48 sts)
• Round 5: Ch 2, *3 dc, 2 dc in next st* repeat around. Sl st to join. (60 sts)
• Round 6: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Step 2: Crescent Moon & Star Appliques (Red)

Crescent Moon: Ch 15. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, dc in next 4 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, sc in next 2 ch, sl st in last ch. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Curve the piece slightly when sewing it onto the white circle center.

Star: Start with a MR. *Ch 3, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, sl st into MR* repeat 5 times to make 5 points. Fasten off and sew to the center of the crescent moon on the white circle.

Step 3: Squaring off the Front Panel

Join Red yarn to any stitch on the outer edge of the white circle.

• Round 1: We will convert the circle to a square. *3 tr in next st (corner), ch 2, 3 tr in next st, dc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 3 sts, sc in next 4 sts, hdc in next 3 sts, dc in next 2 sts* repeat 4 times to square off the circle. Join with a sl st.
• Rounds 2-6: Continue working in rounds of dc around the square, placing [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in each corner space. Adjust the number of rounds to fit your bust size.

Step 4: Back Panel

Crochet a matching solid square in Red yarn of the same dimensions, or create a corset-style lace-up back by making a smaller rectangle with loops along the ends.

Step 5: Straps (Make 2)

With Red yarn, join at the top corners of the front panel.

• Row 1: Ch 1, sc in 6 sts across. Turn.
• Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn.
• Repeat Row 2 until the straps reach your desired length to connect to the back panel. Sew securely to the back panel.

Step 6: Edging and Shell Border

Bottom Shell Hem: With White yarn, join at the bottom hem corner. *Skip 2 sts, 5 dc in next st, skip 2 sts, sl st in next st* repeat across the bottom hem. Fasten off. Join Red yarn and work a row of sc along the very tips of the white shells for a matching pop of color.
