Crochet Pattern: Iron Out Your Keys: A Stylish Crochet Iron Keychain Pattern!

Materials

• DK or Worsted weight yarn in Light Grey
• DK or Worsted weight yarn in Black
• DK or Worsted weight yarn in White
• 2.5mm or 3.0mm crochet hook (adjust to yarn weight)
• Small amount of fiberfill for stuffing
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors
• Keyring with chain
• Small “HANDMADE” fabric tag (optional)

Abbreviations

• MR: Magic Ring
• ch: chain
• sc: single crochet
• inc: increase (2 sc in one stitch)
• dec: decrease (sc two stitches together)
• sl st: slip stitch
• FO: Fasten off
• R: Round

Instructions

This pattern is worked in continuous rounds unless otherwise stated. Use a stitch marker to keep track of the first stitch of each round.

Soleplate (White yarn)

• Ch 10.
• R1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 7 ch, 3 sc in last ch. Turn to work on other side of chain. Sc in next 7 ch, 2 sc in last ch. (20 sc)
• R2: Inc, sc in 7, inc x3, sc in 7, inc x2. (26 sc)
• R3: Sc in each st around. (26 sc)
• Sl st to first sc. FO.

Iron Body (Black and Light Grey yarn)

Join Black yarn to any stitch of R3 of the Soleplate, working into the back loops only (BLO) for the first round.

• R1 (Black): Ch 1, sc in BLO of each st around. (26 sc)
• Switch to Light Grey yarn.
• R2-R6 (Light Grey): Ch 1, sc in each st around. (26 sc)
• R7 (Light Grey – shaping front): Ch 1, (sc in 4, dec) x 4, sc in 2. (22 sc)
• R8 (Light Grey): Ch 1, (sc in 3, dec) x 4, sc in 2. (18 sc)
• R9 (Light Grey): Ch 1, (sc in 2, dec) x 4, sc in 2. (14 sc)
• Begin stuffing firmly, continue to stuff as you go.
• R10 (Light Grey): Ch 1, (sc in 1, dec) x 4, sc in 2. (10 sc)
• R11 (Light Grey): Ch 1, dec x 5. (5 sc)
• FO, leaving a long tail. Weave the tail through the remaining 5 stitches and pull tight to close the hole. Weave in ends.

Handle (Black yarn)

• Ch 15. Sl st to the first ch to form a ring.
• R1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around. (15 sc)
• R2: Sc in each st around. (15 sc)
• Sl st to first sc. FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Dial (White yarn)

• MR, sc 6 into ring. (6 sc)
• R1: Inc in each st around. (12 sc)
• Sl st to first sc. FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.
• Using black yarn and a tapestry needle, embroider a small smile onto the center of the white dial.

Assembly

• Sew the Handle to the top back of the Iron Body using the long tail. Position it centrally and securely.
• Sew the white Dial onto the side of the Iron Body, as shown in the image.
• Attach the keyring to the loop created by the handle or create a small loop with a spare piece of black yarn and attach the keyring there.
• If using, sew the “HANDMADE” tag to the side of the handle.
