Crochet Pattern: Krusty the Clown Amigurumi

Materials

• Worsted weight yarn in: Yellow (main), Teal (hair/pants), Lavender (shirt), White (eyes/collar/socks/teeth), Red (nose/gums), Brown (mouth outline), Black (pupils – small amount).
• Crochet Hook: 3.0mm or 3.5mm (or size suitable for your yarn to achieve tight stitches).
• Polyester Fiberfill for stuffing.
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends and assembly.
• Scissors.
• Stitch markers.

Instructions

General Notes: Work in continuous rounds unless otherwise stated. Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round. Stuff all parts firmly unless specified otherwise.

LEGS (Make 2 – Teal and White)

Start with White yarn.

Change to Teal yarn.

Row 4-10: sc in each stitch around (7 rounds). [12]

For the first leg, sl st, FO. For the second leg, do not FO, continue to Body.

BODY (Teal and Lavender)

Continue from the second leg (Teal yarn).

Row 11: Ch 3, join to first leg with sc in any stitch, sc in remaining 11 stitches of first leg (total 12 sc). Sc in 3 ch stitches (along one side of the chain). Sc in 12 stitches of second leg. Sc in 3 ch stitches (along the other side of the chain). [30]

Row 12-16: sc in each stitch around (5 rounds). [30]

Row 17: (3 sc, dec)*6. [24]

Change to Lavender yarn.

Sl st, FO, leave a long tail for sewing. Stuff the legs and body firmly.

COLLAR (White)

Ch 17.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 14 ch, ch 1, turn. [15]

Using Black yarn, embroider a small circle for the pupil onto each white eye, or crochet a small black MR with 5 sc, FO, and sew on.

Teal Eyelids (Make 2 – Teal, optional but recommended)

Ch 7.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 5 ch. [6]

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch across. [6]

MOUTH (Brown, Red, White)

Mouth Base (Brown):

Ch 9.

Inner Mouth / Gums (Red):

Ch 7.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 4 ch, 3 sc in last ch. Continue on other side of chain: sc in next 4 ch, 2 sc in last ch. [14]

Row 2: Inc, 4 sc, inc*3, 4 sc, inc*2. [20]

Sl st, FO, leave a tail for sewing to the brown base.

Teeth (White):

Ch 10.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 8 ch. [9]

FO, leave a long tail for sewing.

ASSEMBLY

• Sew the head to the body, ensuring the neck is centered and secure.
• Position and sew the white collar around the neck opening of the shirt.
• Sew the arms to the sides of the body, just below the neck/collar.
• Attach the red gums piece to the center of the brown mouth base.
• Sew the white teeth piece just under the top edge of the red gums.
• Position and sew the complete mouth assembly onto the lower front part of the head.
• Sew the large white eyes above the mouth. For the teal eyelids, sew the crocheted strips above each eye, curving slightly downwards on the outer edges.
• Sew the red nose above the mouth, centered between the eyes.
• Sew the pointy teal top hair piece onto the top center of the head.
• Sew the two side hair/ears pieces to the sides of the head, tapering them slightly backward and ensuring they point upwards as seen in the image.
• Weave in any remaining loose ends.
