Materials

• Lace weight yarn (Size 0) or embroidery floss in Ginger, White, Blue, Dark Brown, and assorted bright book colors (Pink, Yellow, Green, Purple)
• 1.0mm or 1.25mm crochet hook
• Polyester fiberfill stuffing
• Tiny craft wire (for glasses)
• Key ring and clasp
• Black embroidery thread (for whiskers and eyes)
• Craft glue and white felt or paper for book pages

Instructions

Head (in Ginger and White):

• Start with white yarn. Ch 2 or magic ring.
• Rnd 1: 6 sc in ring.
• Rnd 2: 6 inc (12 sts).
• Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x6 (18 sts).
• Switch to Ginger yarn for the top of the head.
• Rnd 4-7: Sc around (18 sts). Embroider thin orange stripe details.
• Rnd 8: (1 sc, dec) x6 (12 sts).
• Stuff firmly and fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Ears (Make 2 in Ginger):

• Rnd 1: Magic ring with 4 sc.
• Rnd 2: (1 sc, inc) x2 (6 sts).
• Rnd 3: (2 sc, inc) x2 (8 sts). Fasten off.

Body (Ginger):

• Rnd 1: Magic ring with 6 sc.
• Rnd 2: 6 inc (12 sts).
• Rnd 3-8: Sc around (12 sts). Stuff firmly.
• Rnd 9: 6 dec (6 sts). Fasten off.

Limbs & Tail (Ginger & White):

• Arms (Make 2): Start with white yarn. 4 sc in magic ring. Switch to ginger, sc 4 rounds.
• Legs (Make 2): Start with white yarn. 5 sc in magic ring. Switch to ginger, sc 5 rounds.
• Tail: Start with white yarn. 4 sc in magic ring. Switch to ginger, sc 8 rounds.

Apron (Blue):

• Row 1: Ch 9, sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 7 ch. (8 sts)
• Row 2-5: Ch 1, turn, sc across. (8 sts)
• Row 6: Ch 1, turn, dec, 4 sc, dec. (6 sts)
• Row 7-8: Ch 1, turn, sc across. (6 sts). Fasten off.
• Attach ties: Ch 15, sl st to top corner, sl st across neck bib, ch 15. Embroider ‘BOOKS’ in white floss.

Bookstore Cart (Brown & Rainbow):

• Cart Base (Brown): Crochet a flat rectangle: Ch 8, sc 12 rows. Fold and stiffen with cardboard.
• Wheels (Dark Brown, Make 4): 5 sc in magic ring. Sew to lower corners of the cart.
• Handle: Ch 12, sc back. Sew to the rear of the cart.

Mini Books (Assorted Colors):

• For each book: Ch 6, sc 8 rows. Fold in half over a tiny piece of white felt or cardboard to simulate white pages. Glue shut. Add mini text labels with fine-tip pen.

Assembly:

• Sew the head, ears, limbs, and tail securely to the body.
• Add face embroidery (eyes, pink nose, black whiskers, and cheeks). Bend craft wire into miniature round glasses and place on nose.
• Dress the cat in its blue apron and tie securely.
• Position the cat behind the cart, sewing its paws to the cart’s handle.
• Stack the mini books inside the cart, gluing them in place.
• Attach the keychain loop to the top of the cat’s head.
