Materials

• Fine lace weight yarn or embroidery floss in White, Grey, Dark Blue, Light Blue, Orange, Brown, and Yellow
• 1.0mm crochet hook (or size needed to obtain tight stitches)
• Polyester fiberfill stuffing
• Keychain ring and lobster clasp jump rings
• Sewing needle, embroidery needle, and scissors
• Thin craft wire or toothpick for the fishing rod

• MR: Magic Ring
• ch: chain
• sc: single crochet
• inc: increase (2 sc in one stitch)
• dec: decrease (sc 2 together)
• sl st: slip stitch
• BLO: back loops only
• FLO: front loops only

Instructions

Moon (Grey Yarn):

Round 1: Start with a MR and work 6 sc into it. (6 sts)

Round 2: [inc] x6. (12 sts)

Round 3: [sc, inc] x6. (18 sts)

Round 4: [2 sc, inc] x6. (24 sts)

Round 5: [3 sc, inc] x6. (30 sts)

Round 6: [4 sc, inc] x6. (36 sts)

Rounds 7-12: Work even around (36 sts). To create craters: in random positions, work a popcorn stitch or work 4 sc into the front loop only (FLO) of a single stitch, then resume normal sc.

Round 13: [4 sc, dec] x6. (30 sts)

Round 14: [3 sc, dec] x6. (24 sts)

Stuff firmly with fiberfill.

Round 15: [2 sc, dec] x6. (18 sts)

Round 16: [sc, dec] x6. (12 sts)

Round 17: [dec] x6. (6 sts). Fasten off and weave in ends.

Astronaut Head (White Yarn):

Round 1: MR with 6 sc. (6 sts)

Round 2: [inc] x6. (12 sts)

Round 3: [sc, inc] x6. (18 sts)

Round 4: [2 sc, inc] x6. (24 sts)

Rounds 5-9: Work even around (24 sts).

Round 10: [2 sc, dec] x6. (18 sts). Stuff firmly.

Round 11: [sc, dec] x6. (12 sts). Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Astronaut Visor (Dark Blue & Light Blue Yarn):

Using Dark Blue: ch 5. Starting in 2nd ch from hook, work 3 sc, 3 sc in last ch. Turn to work along opposite side of chain: 2 sc, inc in last ch. (10 sts). Join with sl st and switch to Light Blue thread. Work 1 round of slip stitches around to create the visor border. Sew onto the front of the head. Add white embroidery thread highlight line.

Astronaut Body (White Yarn):

Round 1: MR with 6 sc. (6 sts)

Round 2: [inc] x6. (12 sts)

Round 3: [sc, inc] x6. (18 sts)

Rounds 4-8: Work even around (18 sts). Change to Orange for Round 6, back to White for Round 7-8 to create the suit stripes.

Round 9: [sc, dec] x6. (12 sts). Stuff lightly, fasten off.

Arms and Legs (Make 2 of each in White & Orange Yarn):

For legs, start in White: MR with 5 sc. Work 4 rounds of 5 sc. Switch to Orange for 1 round, then finish with 1 round of White. Fasten off. For arms, repeat similar pattern but slightly shorter (3 rounds of White before color change).

Backpack (White Yarn):

Ch 5. Work in rows of 4 sc for 6 rows to make a small block. Fold and sew edges to make a 3D box, stuffing slightly. Embroider red and blue details onto the back of the pack.

Tiny Goldfish (Orange & Blue Yarn):

MR with 4 sc. Inc to 6 sc. Work 2 rounds. Work [dec] to close the body, then ch 3, sl st back into the body to create tail fins. Embroider tiny blue stripes onto the body.

Assembly:

Sew the head to the body. Attach arms and legs in a sitting position so the astronaut can sit atop the grey moon. Sew the backpack to the back. Sew the completed astronaut securely onto the top of the moon. Wrap a small piece of craft wire with brown yarn to create the fishing rod, secure it in the astronaut’s hands, and hang the tiny fish from the end using a thin thread. Attach a yellow crocheted loop to the top of the helmet and secure your keychain ring.
