Materials

• Medium weight (Category 4) acrylic or cotton yarn in Red, Black, and Yellow
• Size US G/6 (4.0mm) crochet hook
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends and sewing seams
• Crown applique or gold embroidery patch
• Measuring tape and scissors

Instructions

Sizing Note: This pattern is written for size Small/Medium, with instructions to adjust for a custom fit. Measure around your bust and waist to adjust the main panels.

Ribbed Bottom Band:

Using Red yarn, ch 13.

Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (12 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc BLO in each st across, turn.

Repeat Row 2 until the band measures your waist circumference (slightly stretched). Do not fasten off.

Main Body Panels (Make 2 – Front and Back):

Turn the ribbed band sideways to work along the long edge.

Row 1: Ch 2 (does not count as st), work dc evenly across the edge of the ribbed band, turn.

To create the vertical stripes as shown in the image, divide your stitches into sections: Red side panels, Black/Yellow accent stripes, and the Red center panel.

Row 2: Work Red dc, join Black for 2 sts, join Yellow for 2 sts, join Black for 2 sts, work Red dc for the center, and repeat the stripe sequence in reverse on the other side. Turn.

Repeat Row 2 for 25 rows (or until desired length to underarms).

Neckline & Shoulders:

For the front panel, leave the center 24 stitches unworked to form the scoop neck, and work the shoulder straps separately for 8 rows.

For the back panel, repeat similarly but with a shallower scoop (leave center 16 stitches unworked).

Sew front and back panels together at the shoulders and sides, leaving armhole openings.

Sleeves:

Join Red yarn at the armhole seam. Work dc in rounds to create short sleeves (approx. 6 rounds). On the last round, work 1 round in Black, then 1 round in Yellow.

Scalloped Borders (Sleeves, Neckline, and Bottom Band):

Join Black yarn at any edge stitch. *Skip 2 sts, 5 dc in next st (shell), skip 2 sts, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Fasten off. Repeat with Yellow and Red accents to match the image.

Crown Applique and Lettering:

Embroider ‘BELGIUM’ using black yarn or surface slip stitch across the center red panel. Sew a gold crown applique or patch securely above the lettering.
