Materials

• Medium weight (Category 4) acrylic or cotton yarn in Navy Blue, Red, and White
• Size G/6 (4.00 mm) crochet hook
• Yarn needle

Instructions

Bottom Ribbed Band:

Using Navy Blue yarn, ch 12.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (11 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in back loops only (BLO) in each st across, turn.

Repeat Row 2 until the band measures the desired under-bust/waist circumference when slightly stretched (approx. 70-80 rows for Size S/M). Join the ends with sl st to form a ring.

Main Body:

Join Navy Blue yarn to the top edge of the ribbed band.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 1 hdc evenly around the top of the ribbed band, join with sl st to first hdc.

Rnd 2-12: Ch 2 (does not count as st), dc in each st around, join. (Adjust height here if a longer crop is desired).

Rnd 13 (Red Stripe): Join Red yarn, ch 1, sc in each st around, join.

Rnd 14 (Red Stripe): Ch 2, dc in each st around, join.

Rnd 15 (White Stripe): Join White yarn, ch 1, hdc in each st around, join.

Rnd 16 (Red Stripe): Join Red yarn, ch 2, dc in each st around, join.

Rnd 17 (White Stripe): Join White yarn, ch 1, hdc in each st around, join.

Rnd 18-20 (Navy Blue): Join Navy Blue yarn, ch 2, dc in each st around, join.

Bust Shaping & Straps:

Lay your work flat. Place stitch markers to separate the front and back sections. We will work the front bib section first.

Row 1: Attach Navy Blue yarn at the right front marker. Ch 2, dc across the front section to the left marker, turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, dc2tog, dc across to last 2 sts, dc2tog, turn.

Repeat Row 2 to create the scoop neckline and armholes, changing colors to create the striped accents near the shoulder straps as shown in the image (alternating Navy, White, and Red stripes). When the strap width is reached (approx 5-6 sts wide), continue in even rows of dc to create the shoulder straps. Repeat for the back halter section, then sew the shoulder straps together.

USA Applique & Shield:

Letters U, S, A: Using White yarn, work chain lines and sc rows to construct block letters. Sew them centered onto the front red stripe area.

Shield: Using Navy Blue yarn, ch 11. Work in hdc rows, decreasing at the bottom to form a pointed shield shape. Add vertical stripes using White and Red surface slip stitches. Stitch the finished shield onto the front center navy blue section.
