Materials

• Medium weight (Size 4) cotton or acrylic yarn in Yellow, Royal Blue, and Red
• 4.0 mm (US G/6) crochet hook
• Yarn needle

Instructions

Size Note: This pattern is written for a standard size Small/Medium. You can easily adjust the width by chaining a multiple that fits your bust circumference, and adjusting row counts for length.

Front Panel:

Using Red yarn, chain 71.

Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. (69 sts)

Rows 2-8: Ch 2 (does not count as st), hdc in each st across. Turn.

Switch to Royal Blue yarn.

Rows 9-16: Ch 2, hdc in each st across. Turn.

Switch to Yellow yarn.

Rows 17-24: Ch 2, hdc in each st across. Turn.

Shaping the Neckline & Shoulders:

Row 25: Ch 2, hdc in the first 18 sts (leave remaining sts unworked). Turn.

Rows 26-38: Ch 2, hdc in each of the 18 sts across. Turn. Fasten off at the end of Row 38 for the first strap.

For the second strap, skip 33 sts in the center of Row 24. Reattach Yellow yarn in the 34th stitch. Repeat Rows 25-38 on this side. Fasten off.

Back Panel:

Repeat the same steps as the Front Panel, but for a higher neckline, work Rows 17-32 straight across without splitting for the neckline, then split for shorter straps (Rows 33-38) to match the height of the front panel.

Assembly:

Lay the Front and Back panels together with right sides facing. Sew the shoulder straps together using a mattress stitch. Sew up the sides from the bottom ribbing area up to the armholes, leaving a 7-inch gap on each side for the armholes.

Sleeves (Work directly onto armholes):

Join Yellow yarn at the underarm of the armhole.

Round 1: Ch 2, work 48 hdc evenly around the armhole opening. Join with sl st to first hdc. Turn.

Round 2: Ch 2, hdc in each st around. Join with sl st. Turn.

Switch to Royal Blue yarn.

Rounds 3-4: Repeat Round 2.

Switch to Red yarn.

Rounds 5-6: Repeat Round 2.

Switch back to Yellow yarn.

Rounds 7-8: Ch 1, sc in each st around to finish the cuff edge. Fasten off.

Repeat for the other sleeve.

Neckline Edging:

Join Red yarn at the back shoulder seam. Work one round of sc evenly around the entire square neckline. Sl st to join, switch to Yellow, and work a final round of sc. Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.

Bottom Ribbing:

Join Yellow yarn at the bottom hemline seam.

Round 1: Ch 2, hdc evenly around the entire bottom edge. Join with sl st.

Round 2: Ch 2, *FPhdc in next st, BPhdc in next st; repeat from * around to create a ribbed look. Join with sl st.

Rounds 3-5: Repeat Round 2 using Yellow.

Round 6: Switch to Blue, repeat Round 2.

Round 7: Switch to Red, repeat Round 2. Fasten off.

Finishing Touches:

If desired, sew your Colombian Coat of Arms patch to the center chest area on the yellow section using a needle and yellow thread. Weave in any remaining loose ends and steam block lightly to set the shape.
