Materials

• Sport weight or DK weight cotton yarn in: Dark Green, White, Yellow, Red, Blue, Black
• 2.0mm crochet hook
• Tapestry needle
• Small amount of fiberfill for stuffing
• Embroidery floss in: White, Yellow, Black, Red, Blue (for flag and details)
• Keychain ring or split ring
• Stitch marker

Instructions

Notes: Work in continuous rounds unless otherwise stated. Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each round.

Sole (White Yarn)

• Rnd 1: Ch 9. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 6 ch, 3 sc in last ch. Working on the other side of the foundation chain: sc in next 6 ch, 2 sc in last ch. (18 sts)
• Rnd 2: Inc in first st, sc in next 6, inc x 3, sc in next 6, inc x 2. (24 sts)
• Rnd 3: Sc in first st, inc in next st, sc in next 6, (sc, inc) x 3, sc in next 6, (sc, inc) x 2. (30 sts)
• Rnd 4: Sc around. Sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Boot Body (Green Yarn)

• Rnd 1: Join green yarn in BLO of any stitch from Rnd 4 of the Sole. Sc in BLO around. (30 sts)
• Rnd 2-4: Sc around. (30 sts)
• Rnd 5 (Toe Shaping): Sc in next 8 sts, (sc2tog) x 7, sc in next 8 sts. (23 sts)
• Rnd 6: Sc in next 7 sts, (sc2tog) x 4, sc in next 8 sts. (19 sts)
• Rnd 7: Sc in next 6 sts, (sc2tog) x 3, sc in next 7 sts. (16 sts)
• Lightly stuff the toe area.

Boot Collar/Lace Area (Green and Yellow Yarn)

• Row 1: (Still using Green yarn) Ch 1, turn. Sc in next 10 sts. Leave remaining sts unworked. (10 sts)
• Row 2-3: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across. (10 sts)
• Row 4 (Eyelets): Ch 1, turn. Sc, ch 1, skip 1, sc in next 2, ch 1, skip 1, sc in next 2, ch 1, skip 1, sc. (7 sc, 3 ch-1 spaces).
• Row 5: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each sc and ch-1 space across. (10 sts)
• Switch to Yellow yarn.
• Row 6 (Yellow Trim): Ch 1, turn. Sl st in each st across. Fasten off.

Tongue (Green Yarn)

• Row 1: Ch 5. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 3 ch. (4 sts)
• Row 2-5: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across. (4 sts)
• Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly and Finishing

• Attach Tongue: Using the tail, sew the Tongue to the inside front of the boot, beneath the lace area.
• Laces: With white yarn, ch 30-40 (adjust as needed). Weave the chain through the eyelets created in Row 4 of the Boot Collar, tying a small bow at the top as shown in the image. Secure ends.
• Embroidery (refer to image for placement):
  • Springbok Flag: Using black, red, blue, green, and yellow embroidery floss, carefully embroider the South African flag onto the side of the boot.
  • “SOUTH AFRICA” Text: Embroider “SOUTH AFRICA” in white floss above the flag.
  • Springbok Logo & “SPRINGBOKS” Text: Embroider the small Springbok logo and “SPRINGBOKS” text in yellow floss below the flag.
• Studs: Using black yarn or embroidery floss, make 5-7 small French knots or tiny embroidered circles along the white sole of the boot to represent the studs.
• Keychain Ring: Attach a keychain ring to the top heel loop of the boot.
• Weave in all remaining ends.
