Materials

• Dark Blue DK weight yarn
• Bright Yellow DK weight yarn
• White DK weight yarn
• 2.5mm crochet hook (or size suitable for yarn to get tight stitches)
• Yarn needle
• Small amount of fiberfill stuffing (optional)
• Keychain ring with chain
• Small scissors

Abbreviations

• ch – chain
• sl st – slip stitch
• sc – single crochet
• inc – increase (2 sc in one stitch)
• dec – decrease (sc2tog)
• FO – fasten off

• BLO – back loop only
• yo – yarn over

Instructions

Sole (White & Blue)

• Start with White yarn. Ch 9.
• Rnd 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 6 ch, 3 sc in last ch. Work down other side of chain: sc in next 6 ch, 2 sc in last ch. (18 sts)
• Rnd 2: Inc, sc in next 6, inc x 3, sc in next 6, inc x 2. (24 sts)
• Rnd 3: Sc around BLO. (24 sts) (This creates a crisp edge for the upper)
• Switch to Dark Blue yarn.
• Rnd 4: Sc around. (24 sts)
• Sl st to first sc and FO White yarn.

Upper (Dark Blue)

• Continue with Dark Blue yarn from Rnd 4 of sole.
• Rnd 5-6: Sc around. (24 sts)
• Rnd 7: Sc in 6, dec, sc in 10, dec, sc in 4. (22 sts)
• Rnd 8: Sc in 5, dec, sc in 9, dec, sc in 4. (20 sts)
• Rnd 9: Sc in 4, dec, sc in 8, dec, sc in 4. (18 sts)
• Rnd 10 (Toe shaping): Sc in 3, dec, sc in 7, dec, sc in 4. (16 sts)
• Rnd 11 (Heel opening): Ch 1, turn. Sc in 12, leaving remaining 4 sts unworked (this forms the back opening for the heel).
• Rnd 12-14: Ch 1, turn. Sc in 12.
• FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.
• (Slightly stuff the toe area if desired.)

Yellow Stripe (Surface Crochet)

• Using Bright Yellow yarn, surface slip stitch a thin line around the side of the shoe, just above the white sole and below the blue upper.

Studs (White)

• Using White yarn, make small bobbles on the sole where the white is visible.
• To make a bobble: *On the sole, insert hook into a stitch, yo, pull up loop, yo, pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook). Repeat 3 more times in the same stitch (5 loops on hook). Yo, pull through all 5 loops. Ch 1 to secure.* Make about 6-8 evenly spaced studs.

Laces (Bright Yellow)

• Cut two 6-inch pieces of Bright Yellow yarn.
• Using a yarn needle, weave them through the upper part of the shoe opening, creating a criss-cross lace pattern. Tie a small bow or knot at the front.

Flag and Text Embroidery (White & Yellow)

• Refer to the image for placement and shape.
• Using Bright Yellow yarn, embroider the main triangle shape on both sides of the cleat.
• Using White yarn, embroider the white stars (seven stars are visible on the flag) along the hypotenuse of the yellow triangle on both sides.
• On one side, embroider “BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA” in white.
• On the other side, embroider “BIH” in white.

Assembly and Finishing

• Using the tail from the upper, sew the back heel opening closed, bringing the edges together to form the heel.
• Keychain Loop: Attach Bright Yellow yarn to the back top center of the heel. Ch 10-12, sl st back into the same stitch to form a loop. FO.
• Attach the metal keychain ring to this loop.
• Weave in all remaining ends.
