Materials

• Worsted weight cotton yarn in Royal Blue, Golden Yellow, White, and Metallic Gold
• 4.0 mm (US G/6) crochet hook

Instructions

Sizing Note: This pattern is written for a standard size Small/Medium. You can easily adjust the width by adding or subtracting starting chains, and adjust the height by adding more rows.

Front Panel (Color block section):

Using Royal Blue yarn, ch 61. We will work in single crochet (sc) rows, introducing Golden Yellow on the right side using the intarsia crochet method.

Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. (60 sts)

Rows 2-10: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn.

Row 11 (Starting diagonal color change): Ch 1, sc in first 57 sts with Blue, attach Yellow, sc in last 3 sts with Yellow. Turn. (Carry yarn or use separate bobbins for clean transitions).

Rows 12-45: Continue working in sc, shifting the color change line by 1 to 2 stitches to the left on every row to create a smooth diagonal boundary dividing the Blue (left) and Yellow (right) sections. By Row 45, the Yellow section should occupy approximately the top-right half of the panel.

Neckline and Armhole Shaping (Front):

To create the scoop neck and armholes, decrease 1 st at the beginning and end of each row for the next 5 rows. Next, split the work to shape the left and right chest peaks by working only on one side at a time, continuing to decrease along the inner neckline to create the scoop shape. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Back Panel:

Using Royal Blue yarn, ch 61.

Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. (60 sts)

Rows 2-45: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (Keep the back panel solid blue for a clean contrast, or mirror the front panel design if preferred).

Shape Back Neckline: Work the same decreases as the front panel to match side-seam heights, leaving a straight or slightly scooped back neckline as desired.

Straps (Make 2):

Using Royal Blue yarn, attach yarn to the top peaks of the front panel. Ch 1, sc across the 6 sts of the peak. Work back and forth in rows of sc until the strap reaches your desired length to connect to the back panel. Sew the straps securely to the back panel peaks.

Gold Star Appliques (Make 6):

Using Metallic Gold yarn, start with a magic circle (mc).

Round 1: Ch 1, work 10 sc into the ring. Join with sl st to first sc. (10 sts)

Round 2: *Ch 4, sl st in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in last ch, skip 1 st from Round 1, sl st into next st. Repeat from * 4 more times to create a 5-point star. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing and Details:

Seaming: Lay the front and back panels together with right sides facing. Sew the side seams together using a mattress stitch or whip stitch.

White Diagonal Line: Using White yarn and a yarn needle, embroider a dashed line along the diagonal seam where the Blue and Yellow colors meet.

Star Attachment: Arrange the 6 gold stars diagonally along the white dashed line (as shown in the photo). Sew them securely in place using the yarn tails.

Letters “BiH”: Using Metallic Gold yarn, surface-stitch or embroider the letters “BIH” on the lower blue portion of the front panel.

Bottom Scallop Border: Attach Blue yarn to the bottom hem. Work a row of sc around. Fasten off Blue. Attach Gold yarn. *Skip 1 st, work 5 dc in next st, skip 1 st, sl st in next st. Repeat from * around to create the lovely scalloped gold trim. Fasten off and weave in all remaining loose ends securely.
