Materials

• Worsted weight yarn in Yellow, Green, and Red

Instructions

Body Panels (Make 2 – Front and Back):

With Green yarn, ch 71 (or desired width for your size in odd numbers).

Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. (70 sts)

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in each st across. Turn.

Switch to Yellow yarn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn.

Switch to Red yarn.

Rows 4-6: Ch 3, dc in each st across. Turn.

Switch to Green yarn.

Rows 7-9: Ch 3, dc in each st across. Turn.

Switch to Yellow yarn for the main body.

Rows 10-28: Ch 3, dc in each st across. Turn. (Adjust length here by adding or subtracting rows before shaping armholes).

Armhole and Neckline Shaping: Shape the shoulders by leaving the outer 8 stitches unworked on each side on the last two rows to create the armhole depth. Fasten off.

Assembly: sew the front and back panels together at the shoulders and sides, leaving ample space for the armholes.

Sleeves: Join Green yarn at the armpit seam. Work in rounds around the armhole opening in dc. Work 3 rounds of Green, switch to Yellow for 2 rounds, Red for 2 rounds, and finish with 1 round of Green sc. Fasten off.

Scallop Bottom Border: Join Green yarn at the bottom hem. Work: *skip 2 sts, 5 dc in next st (shell), skip 2 sts, sl st in next st* repeat around the entire bottom edge to create the wave effect.

Embellishments: Use Red yarn and a tapestry needle to surface-stitch the word ‘SENEGAL’ across the chest, or crochet individual letters and sew them on. Outline the letters in Green yarn. Sew the Senegal crest patch centered above the letters.
